I rented a car 3 weeks ago to be picked up @ 11:30pm because I work late.  I called earlier in the day to confirm that everyone was going as planned - the person on the phone said they'd see me @ 11:30 with my rental.  I arrived @ the airport @ 11:10 - lights out, no one behind the counter, no one answering my phone calls (4 in total).
I had to pay double my original quote @ the Alamo rental counter and I almost missed my flight.

Utterly terrible car rental service. Will never use Budget again. Front desk lady looked like she hated the world. The upgraded SUV we paid for was a 5 seater that was smaller than most crossovers. I asked if we could get the car on our reservation. She told me they didn't "have the keys to it". A worker told me he would have a substitute available in 30 minutes. We waited. The front desk lady then did not authorize the switch. So we waited for nothing. She told us that if we prepaid for gas that we would pay the prorate upon return of the car. Upon return the car had 3/4ths a tank of gas. Then they told us the prepayment was a flat rate regardless of how much gas the car had. We currently have a pending transaction on our credit card for more than double our reservation. We have the reciepts. I tried to call the location, no one picks up---eventually you hear a click and the line goes dead. I've already called my credit card company and have had them note that we are going to dispute.

Was charged an additional $200 over rental price. Charged 2 days after vehicle was dropped off. Not happy. Will never rent again from budget.

This is one of the worst renting experiences of my life. And I have been renting cars regularly for business and pleasure. I was trapped in Nebraska due to road closures on I-80 due to extreme weather conditions. Emergency lines and customer support I have called had an average wait time of 10-15 minutes and ended up being directed to India. Try explaining where Nebraska is and what blizzard conditions mean to a call center clerk in India and you will know the depth of my frustrations. On top of that, up on returning my car, a quick call I made to the clerk in South Bend resulted in being charged an additional "late return fee" instead of reimbursing me for the additional day since my condition was due to "acts of god". Ironically, my drop off location was closed due to once again, blizzard conditions for the day even though I made it on time and risked my life and property. Thankfully, the clerk at my drop off location in Colorado was more than helpful and understanding and even suggested what numbers to call to get better customer service. I will never be renting from this location.

I was in a hurry because I had a family emergency and I was given fast and courteous service and was able to make it to the hospital as planned. Thanks to Budget I was able to get a really nice car at a price that is unbeatable. I am happy I found Budget today.
