What a find!! We were driving along Highway 89 not sure of where we would park for the night. This campsite popped up and I'm so glad it did! Right off the highway, these sites are $7/night!! You can't beat that! Obviously, there are no hookups. You just get a spot, a picnic table and a fire ring. The bathrooms were good though and you can use your generator. I think this was around 30 min from Yellowstone's north entrance. And there's a lot of spots available too. We are truly grateful to have had this place to stop for the night. Plus, check out those rocks the kids got to climb!

Many of the sites were rocky ground, not ideal for pitching a tent but we made it work. Location is great for quick access to Yellowstone. Toilet was clean.

Great way to escape the ridiculous prices of camping within Yellowstone, and the campground itself is only about 30 minutes from the park. It is beautiful with boulders scattered around each site, a great view of the mountain, and it is located merely 50 feet from the banks of the Yellowstone River. The only downside is that it is right off the road, but since there are so many trees and boulders, your campsite is completely private. Also, very few cars drive on the road after nightfall so you should be able to sleep soundly. Anyway, it is an amazing campground right at the gateway of the national park. I would recommend for all of you to make arrangements to stay if visiting the area.

Not the best fishing access. River is across the highway and 40 ft. or so down a very steep embankment. Campground is well maintained. Sets right next to US 89 (busy highway) so there was noise from the road until quite late.

This was the only campground that had more than three open spots on a Friday in July. We checked other campgrounds after Livingston and had no luck. Also the campgrounds at the Yellowstone park filled up by 5 pm (check their website for live update) Canyon campground is actually right next to the road, but it didn't feel too noisy. You could hear the river at night. The big rocks offer good privacy between camp grounds. There is no water or electricity and the toilets are not near to all the sites. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic table. There's a paying box and no hosts. It's a perfect place to spend the night if you arrive at Yellowstone late in the evening.
