Very quaint and old timey. Food is very good but not to the point of wowing me. The view of he Potomac would be amazing if there wasn’t an extremely busy street and the Mount Vernon bike path between you and the river. I found myself watching the skateboarding people on their phones and wondering how they weren’t running into each other or trees.

Cedar Knoll reopened in December 2015 under new management. It is located near Mount Vernon off the George Washington Memorial Parkway. It has outdoor seating and views of the Potomac river. It offers seasonal, locally sourced food. Entree items are ~$20. Definitely something for everyone. The restraurant has 4 interior rooms. Reservations are recommended (they have only been open two weeks, and I had trouble getting a table). We had 8 in our party. Everyone liked their food, but the seafood was the biggest hit. In particular the fresh, local oysters and jumbo lump crab cakes. I didn't have room for dessert, which are all made in-house (why didn't I save room)?! They looked absolutely y-u-m! This place is great. I could see myself coming back for date night, a special occasion, or after work to unwind and enjoy the view.

Enjoyed a pleasant evening meal when in D.C. for business at the recommendation of a colleague. I enjoyed a delicious bottle of wine, a winter vegetable squash soup, a perfectly prepared steak, and a great dessert along with an espresso. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was great. I will say the atmosphere was a little lacking. There were only three or four tables of patrons in the place would gave a bit of a "creepy vibe" in the old converted home.

So this is a much needed updated to my review from about three years ago. As a reminder, my family has been frequenting Cedar Knoll for decades and now it's third ownership in that time. It's BETTER then ever! The food is exqusite along with the presentation 5/5. Service was great and was really pleased to let Andrew know how much we appreciate what he has done with both the food quality and the updates to the interior. The rustic charm is still there, the fireplaces are fantastic and the views, well they simply cannot be beat. Congratulations to the new owners on what is simply an outstanding relaunch for this classic and iconic venue.
