The wait time of 3-5 months to see a specialist at Children’s Specialized Hospital is totally unacceptable. I get the fact that this is not an Emergency Facility, but what good does it make when care is not being delivered appropriately within reasonable time norms. I understand 1 month or month and a half, but 3-5 months!!! This is not only an absolute absurdity, but a great example of what is actually wrong with the concept of so called Social Medicine. Hence I should probably ask Warren E. Moore, the President of Children’s Specialized Hospital, if 5 month waiting period falls within what he calls the best standard of care? Quote: “we are focused on improving the lives of the children we serve by discovering the best possible evidence based standards of care” After all I doubt that excessive waiting periods make parents and caregivers happy. If so where does Children’s Specialized Hospital gets its 99% patient satisfaction?

My child was an inpatient (and later an outpatient) at Children’s Specialized Hospital for three months. The staff there was incredible. Everyone was so helpful in making the process go smoothly. They happily catered to our special needs as a religious Jewish family. The facilities were clean, bright, and cheery- The accommodations for the patients AND for the parents were unbelievable. We truly felt at home during our stay at the hospital. With the help of the VERY dedicated and professional therapists and medical staff our daughter has made a nearly complete recovery. The hospital also offers all the cutting-edge technology available to aid in the recovery process. We owe our daughter's physical and mental health to the care we received at Children’s Specialized Hospital! A special shout out goes to Tara Mohammed, our designated Child Life Specialist who enabled our daughter to cope with the sudden changes in her situation and guided her through the sometimes painful therapy sessions. We are so thankful that she was there to help us through the process after our daughter was sent to Children’s Specialized Hospital. She was kind and caring and our daughter warmed up to her immediately. Dr. Fantasia' expert care and advice promoted the quick recovery we experienced under her guidance. She made sure to be thorough and explain everything in a way that we would all understand. Children's Specialized is unique in that the entire hospital experience - while offering the very best medical care money can buy- feels less like a hospital stay and more like- and these are my 11 year old daughter's words- a summer camp stay! We can't be more grateful for all they have done for us.
