I would honestly rate this zero stars because the staff isn’t very helpful. They have one computer in case you need to use it to print any of your documents. So you have wait in line until your turn. Last time I checked I thought it was 2017 but doesn’t look like they have any funding to have more than one computer. Also, I couldn’t print my application online due to technical problems and instead of being quick to help me I was told that I should call the customer care phone #. I asked for the number and was told to refer to their website. I work in customer care and it wouldn’t kill you to take 2 mins out to look up the phone number and provide it. It was not easy to find the number on their website. Now I have to go back with another scheduled appointment. I spoke with other people that were waiting and a few of them spent hours and another guy was waiting practically all day. I work and I scheduled my appointment and went in during lunch time. It was not a quick process. I remember 10 years ago I would walk into the embassy and I would be out within minutes. This place is beyond slow and not very helpful. MAKE SURE TO BRING EVERYTHING WITH YOU! Otherwise you’ll wait hours and have to make multiple visits. They really need to work on better customer service.

After I put initial review of one star based on my experience immediately within 24hrs I got a call from CKGS and they listened to my complain and resolved it to my satisfaction. They have training issue with staff but by and large they are helpful. Particularly Manager Amandeep was of great help in resolving my issue. I am giving them three star not 4 because there website needs lot of improvement. which they have promised to fix

The most confusing and unhelpful place I've ever been to get a visa. This is the the third time I have applied for an Indian visa, but the first time at this location. You used to be able to print out your application ahead of time, fill it out, bring a photo, passport and payment, and submit the application at the embassy from 9am-1pm. Then pick it up from 3pm-5pm the same day. Super easy. Now, this office requires you to apply online. The application process online is super confusing, and temperamental. The website kept kicking me off, I'd have to start over and at the end of the process, you can print it out and request appointment. Thank god, I was able to print out the completed form , before the system reset and I was not able to properly request an appointment, because it no longer recognized me, even though I had the correct temporary ID number assigned to me from the site. Needless to say, I went to CKGS without an appointment. Make sure you grab a "token" upon arrival from the kiosk located just feet from the front door. I put token in quotation marks, because this is what one of the lovely women at the help desk kept yelling at people as they walked in. Mind you, this is not a token at all. It is a number printed out on thermal paper, that designates the reason for your visit. I realize it is a token kiosk, however, a better thing to instruct newcomers would be to take a number. Once your number is called, you get to meet with an unfriendly and impatient person who rattles off a list of what is required to be submitted along with your application. Why in all things that are holy was this list not forefront on their website? So, let me help you cut through all the BS. Before going to the CKGS office to acquire a tourist visa, be sure to bring with you: - Completed application printed from their website. (If you have a previous expired Indian visa, they require the old visa number and dates.) - a single 2x2 inch glossy photo different from the photo in your passport. - a photocopy of your current passport and driver's license. - an Additional Particulars Form For Visa Services (again, never mentioned during the online application process) was begrudgingly printed for me from the person taking my application. - your current passport must valid a minimum of 6 months from the visa application date. - $124.20 payment (no cash) for a 10 year visa. They print out your receipt with a reference number. You are told it will take 3-5 business days and to look for an email sent from their office to confirm it is ready for pickup. Collection time window is only 3:30pm-5:30pm, Mon-Fri.

Applied for OCI card to replace the existing PIO card. Application was completely rejected and returned within few minutes of receiving application in Chicago processing center due to missing middle name initial and asked to start the application process completely new. When I contacted them they again they told me that there is no correction processes for any kind of mistakes other than starting again from scratch. Never seen or heard this kind of application process anywhere else in the world. Normal process should be asking for corrected form instead of rejecting completely for very simple mistakes. How can you completely reject the application in no time without giving at least one opportunity to the applicant to correct simple mistakes like middle name initial? By rejecting like this they can keep collecting the processing fee. What a corrupt process? I am giving up on this. Should be worst possible negative rating.
