I went to Ukrainian consulate to renew my expired passport and i had very good experience. I was a bit concerned with negative reviews, but, to my surprise everyone was very kind and helpful. It took ~ 20 minutes to submit my paperwork and another 5 mins to take a picture and fingerprint s. Thank you everyone for being polite :) Awesome experience.

I have been trying to reach the UA Consulate in SF by phone for several weeks -- nobody is picking up. I live more than a thousand miles away so I can't exactly drop by easily.  Plus, the prerecorded messages are terrible!  They are extremely fast, monotone, and difficult to understand. I speak Ukrainian and perfect English and found it difficult to understand either version of the recording on the first listen.  Please slow down on the Ukrainian part and have a fluent English speaker re-record the English version.  I called the UA consulate in NY and had a MUCH MUCH better experience.  Their recordings are much better and more useful.

The service here is extremely slow. They have no idea how to value other's time. Be prepared to stuck for a couple of hours just to do simple paperwork.
The waiting room is so tiny. People have to stand or sit on the stairs in entrance hall.

Extremely slow, disrespectful and unhelpful.  No hospitality (bring your own water - it's going to be a LONG wait!)  The way this office is ran is an embarrassment during the 21st Century!  Their website is confusing and clunky yet, they force people to check if their passport as arrived there.  How difficult would it be to simply send out an email to inform people their passport has arrived?  They couldn't possibly care less about Ukrainian citizens.
