I'm so glad that the natives American have this wonderful memorial. They should take pride and volunteer to help. Carrying wood, water, wherever is needed. I saw the DVD all about making crazy horse. Not one native was there volunteer to help. It is their memorial. all monies go to there education, so they should be helping. Sit back and do nothing shows no pride. Rather disgusting.

This place is going to bigger and historical once it's completely constructed. This is a private owned and maintained space, you have entry fee. They have museum and other native collectives which speaks about their rich culture and history. We will come back to see the completed mountain sculpture.

I first visited this site in 1999, and then most recently in 2017. It was awesome to see how much progress was made on the memorial in that time. This is a must see when visiting Mount Rushmore. The dedication of this one family to finishing this memorial and their support of the American Indians history and culture is admirable. You can easily spend the entire day here with all of the things that you can do and the programs. Amazing gift shops and restaurants. The buffet was good. Service quirky.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Loved it and glad they are finally doing a monument to honor our true founding fathers. I will be back here as soon as I can to see what progress they have made. I think that the government should definitely give money to hurry and have this one finished. I would pay higher taxes to see that! I went to Mount Rushmore, but stayed longer at this one. Because it means more I think.

This place is pretty unique, the scale is awesome, after coming from Mount Rushmore sculptures that top out around 60 feet high. I think people expect way too much, this is a work in process, one that was started in 1948, by one man and his family. Yes, only the face is pretty much done, but it is the scale (after all it's a mountain) 560 feet high x 640 feet wide sculpture. Also, you need to remember it self-funded, few workers and a long long way to go until completion. The Welcome Center is the jewel for now and it has a wealth of information on life-styles of the native tribes and their interactions. It is large museum and if you spend the time, you'll learn much. Enjoy, we certainly had a great time and you can too.
