We live in Prescott and travel to Phoenix regularly. We have been stopping into the new bakery on Highway 69 in Mayer. Recently during a stop for their wonderful Danish, we got to talking with some of the other customers. We met the new owner of the Creekside cabins right on Big Bug Creek. Really nice guy and we told him we had been wanting to stop by for a long time but have always been in a hurry to get home. He explained that they were renovating the property and were upgrading the steakhouse. Well my ears perked up when I heard this. After awhile of more chatting we promised we would stop and eat on our way back from Phoenix. Well we did and were not disappointed. The main building is rustic and clean. We could see some of the improvements being made.

We were the first customers and were shown around the property. We of course ordered the rib eye steaks. They were really good and juicy, not overly done. A good sized steak for fair price. The sour dough bread was warm and tasty. A simple salad and baked potato came with the meal. After dinner we learned that this is their second resort. Their first is at Crater Lake in Oregon. Good things are happening in Mayer. It sure can use the new businesses.

We plan on eating there again to check on the progress.

Beautiful location. The new owners are doing a fantastic job. So many nice touches make your stay so comfortable while giving you the perfect starting point for so many sightseeing opportunities in this area.

Loved the rustic furniture, fireplace and heart shaped tub. Rugged views from private balcony. Restaurant on premises. Would love a return visit.

I love this place! Quiet, the most comfortable beds ever, love the jacuzzi tub, and the porches are amazing at night when it's quiet and you can see so many stars... Note: they do have new owners as of 9/1/17 and doing upgrades!

Beautiful place love the rooms Great atmosphere Restaurant needs work need to throw away the frozen foods and cook fresh No microwave  food at a steakhouse
