Definitely towards the higher end of cheap American motels. Nick the Concierge was GREAT! Very professional whilst personable at the same time. The room was clean and well stocked, and there was interesting architecture in the foyer. The breakfast service was standard, but good. If you need accommodation in Middletown VA, this is the place.

Best Econolodge I’ve ever stayed at! Not a typical motel. Rooms are attached to an indoor hallway that connects to the main desk/breakfast area. There is also a small indoor pool and the WiFi actually works well. Great, cheap place to stop mid road trip. But do remember, it is an Econolodge and not a five star hotel.

I am staying here right now, and per these kinds of places, the Wifi is completely defective and unusable. And per this kind of place, the management pretends and insists it's all my fault. It isn't, the signal is too weak to reach me from a pathetic system weaker than at anyone's home. In this day and age it is of course not some slack optional feature, but required to have internet. In addition, the tv remote is broken and the phone doesn't work. So regardless of the highly touted "upgrade" to rooms here, this counts as a dump.

Great weekend stay.... Close to Skyline drive a must see...   Great little Irish pub in downtown Middletown...    Great staff and clean room and a bargain.   This one of the nicer Econo Lodge brand...   I will be back...

Stayed just one night. My kid, Beau, and I. Got the King size bed with pull out sofa. There was a hole in wall (uncapped loose wires), previous guest's water in freezer, mold in freezer, huge rip in mattress, bathroom molding needed cleaning, and a/c wasn't easily adjusted (fixed knob ourselves so it could be adjusted some), a/c leaked on the carpet.... We have stayed at Econolodge before and I chose this one due to that reason. We had military id and were told upon check in that we couldn't use the military discount, were charged a security deposit, and paid for room in advance... When called front desk for sheets for the pull out, the front desk wasn't anything less than irritated that we bothered him...There weren't many guests there to cause the frustration of overbooking. (Rest of staff were cheery and helpful. Again, that's my only reason for giving it 2 stars.) Needless to say we will not be staying at this location again.  We're thankful we only used the room for sleeping in between trails/activities... And showers the next morning.
