Nice place to stop and walk. Paved trail you can see a lot with a 1/2 mile walk. Some of the longer upper trail was closed due to weather this visit the best I can remember it was very nice too if your able to walk on steeper surfaces.

El Morro National Monument is a wonderful place and an amazing walk through time. Seeing the thousands of years of people that have passed by this one place simply because of the presence of water in a dry land really brings to perspective the short time we have on this world. The trail is an easy walk and everything is wonderfully maintained. So many pictures to be taken!!!

Got there late in day on road trip, and even so we were treated well by staff. My husband whom I was relying on for map(what is it with men and maps-lol) had us taking the long route (by accident) instead of the short to see the water pool (maybe next time). It was truly exhilarating to stand on top and look around. The exercise was equally enjoyed as was the thought of this place Now and in history! Oh and I got a stamp in my park book as well as crossed the Continental Divide. Save our parks!!!

Beautiful place to hike and learn history! I wish all the trails would have been open. But due to safety regulations I'm glad they were closed. The trails were too icy. Just means I have to go again! P.S. dog friendly if your dog is friendly.

This is a beautiful little park with a nice well organised trail. It's free entry and do talk to the rangers at visitor center, they will give you a self-guide book which tells a lot of interesting stories of history of the place. The full trail is only 2 miles long but do save 1.5 to 2 hour for that since you might want to take some time stop for pictures and views as well as reading the stories on the self-guide book! There is also a short trail option with paved foot path though, highly recommend to take the long one, it does climb up a bit but not a difficult walk, and the view is definitely worth to see.
