One of the biggest Indian ruins in the US. I've been twice and still haven't seen everything. Really amazing to see these old structures. They have a loop trail that you drive your car through with different sites along the way where you can park and walk around and through the ruins. This park has numerous hiking trails to view the dwellings from a bird's eye view,. I would recommend to bring snacks and plenty of water because it's in the middle of nowhere.

PLEASE PLEASE KNOW: there are no paved roads to these ruins! I drove it in a sedan and the road was long and terrible. I went at like 10 mph and it took me forever to get in and out. Highly recommend you visit these ruins in a suitable vehicle. The ruins themselves are awesome and well preserved. Plus, unlike Mesa Verde, you can walk right up to the ruins without signing up for any special tours - once you're in, it's all yours.

there is a reason why all roads led to Chaco Canyon back in ancient times. I spent 3 days on a solo trip here and was blown away by the craftsmanship the ancient builders had with no mortar are you kidding me??! wow! this place is an almost spiritual reawakening, good place to get in tune with yourself. read up on the culture before coming here and you will understand more

History from 800BC to 1250 BC! A mind boggling experience. The engineering wonder of the world. How did they create this without horses or wheels? This is a must for all generations.

One of the coolest places in America, walking the same steps my ancestors walked was almost spiritual. Seeing the Super Nova Glyph which was a 4 mile walk from the entrance was a heck of an experience. Chaco Canyon is the middle of nowhere so at night you can see the sky in its entire majesty! The ruins are amazing the hikes are awesome. If you are and adventurer this is the place for you. If you are a stay at home body, stay at home you will hate this place.
