Story

While some things have changed over the last few decades, El Pollo Loco's commitment to fresh, authentic food has not. Everything starts with whole chickens that are slowly marinated in a special recipe of herbs, spices, fruit juices and garlic. The chicken is then expertly fire-grilled to perfection the authentic way - on our signature open-flame grills - then hand cut into your favorite Mexican entrees. This is a healthier option if you want good food at a reasonable price. The ch it chicken is very good and the salsa is fresh.  The dining area is spacious so it good for large groups as well. The taco al carbon are very good and a nice quick option if you don't want to get bogged down from the numerous choice in there menu. The place also has a quick drive thru if you don't feel like getting out of the  car.

I love all El Pollo Loco restaurants but this location isn't one of their shiniest. The bathrooms are not as clean as other locations and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant is, well..."isn't". The salsa bar was almost empty of everything and very unappealing looking. What was left of the avocado salsa (my favorite!) was a thick, pasty & very "different-looking-than-normal" salsa.  Granted it is January in Big Bear but eating with a down parka on isn't optimal. Felt like there was more than the drive thru window open. I felt bad for the employees, yes it was THAT cold! BUT speaking of the employees, they get 5 stars for friendliness, quick service and patience with a very steady stream of customers!! In addition, the food was tasty as usual! A little cleaning and bump the thermostat to at least 60 degrees and it's a five star El Pollo Loco restaurant!

For fast food El Pollo Loco is pretty good. I'm sure it's not as healthy as you would think it is but it's got to be better than McDonald's or most of the other fast food places. They do make very good salsa.

Excellent place to eat, very clean and quiet. Good prices and good product. I recommend it.

Their Food was Great ! I thought their prices were a little higher than KFC. But, very Good Food! The Service and Friendliness was Amazing, I have not seen this Quality of Service and Friendliness almost never, and believe you me that is saying something in my book! Thank you ! Ed Gross.
