Stayed here in July 2017. Was Louisiana HOT but lots of shade. Dump station was easy to use. Sites are paved and level with lots of room in between them, at least on the front side. The river side seemed a bit cramped to me. The bathrooms were private and the laundry rooms were well kept. A bit pricy but overall a good value.

A nice park with nice staff. Underfunded by state so understaffed. Otis house and quilting tour were hard to schedule due to staffing. Only one paid employee and one park ranger on the grounds when we were there. Like most public campgrounds they have contracted out their reservations to Reserve America to save money on staffing. We are exploring the country while we still can and hate to make reservations for campgrounds we know nothing about or give up the ability to leave a place we don't like without losing money and the ability to stay longer if we want to explore a place a few days longer. Apparently state parks in Louisiana nickel and dime visitors by charging extra for "premium" sites(no sewer) and extra for sites on Friday and Saturday nights. What really PO's me though is being charged $6 for a non-refundable reservation fee when we were a "walk in" who never made a reservation. We have never encountered this charge before in any state park in the many we have camped in between the east coast and the Rockies.

Beautiful park, we paid extra for a premium site by the river. Dryer was broken for our entire stay (6 nights), so much for free laundry. WiFi was too slow to work so we used our own. Agree with some of the other reviews saying that this place seems understaffed - rarely anyone to wave you in, gate always up, so it didn't feel that secure. The 'surprise' taxes + fees added on are not cool - just be up front about the cost. The beautiful setting makes up for the 'misses'.

Pretty, pleasant, peaceful but the campsites are extremely tight making it very difficult to back up campers and park two cars.
