This is one of my favorite places on the planet.  As a campground the sites themselves are just okay, but each site is either on the water, or with water access; that make this place special.  On top of the water access, there are miles of interconnected lakes, ponds, and streams that you can reach from this campground.  There are restrictions to keep motorized craft off many of these lakes and streams, so they are very peaceful.  Lots of opportunities to see wildlife, and there is back country camping access if that's your thing.  Fish Creek Ponds is a gem!

My experience at this campground had it's good and bad parts. It is much better then the other campgrounds in terms of sites on the water where access to the lake was easy. It was also somewhat close to a nearby town. On the bad side, trucks tended to drive by whenever we wanted to back into our site. Plus we ended up downwind of the dump station so you can imagine the pleasant smell we were treated to on the first day. Also the weather was uncooperative but that was just bad luck. At night people across the lake yelled across the lake so expect no quiet after dark. Overall it was still a decent camping experience.

Came for the second week of October- not very busy in comparison to summer reviews. Beautiful fall color, nice water access for most sites. There aren’t too many places where you get the trifecta- hiking, kayaking, and fishing. They closed the showers down before closing the campground- not cool. Otherwise, we heard loons and coyotes every night. Convenient location to Tupper Lake, Lake Saranac, and Lake Placid. We went tried Little Italy in Saranac, Breakfast Club in Placid, and Wild Center in Tupper. We want to come back for more outdoor time and hit Olympic Park and Audible Chasm.

Awesome campground. Very busy place for camping. Lots of kids. Every campsite is by the lake. Close enough to high peaks. Only gripes are that there is 1 shower house for the whole campground. Plenty of showers in it so you don't have to wait, but a bigger water heater would be nice 3 out of 4 showers cold .

Great rustic family camp ground. Good for kids. Has large sites and ok facilities. Has a lot of traffic so it's not super peaceful but still a great spot.
