I was visiting North Haven recently for work, and had planned to drive into NYC one day for some real pizza. Some locals told me not to bother, a quick trip to New Haven for some Frank Pepe pizza was all I needed. I was dubious, NYC is famous for pizza, New Haven is not. I was also flat out wrong. Frank Pepe pizza is amazing, like multiple swear word amazing. I grew up 25 years near Chicago, so I know me some pizza. Even more amazing, they sell some sort of generic pop there called kola, with a K, and it actually compliments the pizza like they were made for each other. Amazing. Those eastern states are small, if you're anywhere near this place, make the drive, get the kola, it'll be worth the trip.

Still, the Sally's-Pepe's-Modern - which is best debates rage on. Why? Because they are all stellar. Pepe's is still the 5 star juggernaut it's always been. The toppings are garden fresh, brick oven to perfection (almost too perfect!), 2 seperate dining areas which are both very clean aesthetic. My waiters have always been very casual, honest & helpful. For the quality pizza you are getting, the price is just about right. If you live in New Haven, or are visiting, you HAVE TO go to Pepe's at least once! It's an icon & the Wooster St. (New Haven's Little Italy) dining experience is a treasure.

Love this place. We got there right when it opened at 11 am for an early lunch which was great because there was no line to be seated and we didn't have to wait to order food either. Love the thin crust. We ordered the white pizza with clams and a pepperoni pizza. Delicious!

Pizza was really delicious. I ordered shrimp and chicken with some vegetables too. Omg 😲 both pizza was super cool. I can't wait to go there ones again even though it's so far away from my living place. If u go on weekends we will have to wait on line around 30-45 minutes.

Quick service once you get through the line and sit down. Friendly waitress. Delicious thin crust. We had the summer pie, fresh tomatoes, cheese & basil. Delicious. Crust was cooked right, not burnt, but crisp and chewy.
