Amazing vet. Went to them for a second opinion for my cat, and they ended up detecting bladder stones my usual vet did not. We scheduled a surgery for the following day and now my cat is home and recovering really well. Definitely going back there for now on for all my cats needs.

I was disappointed by the first visit, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt since their prices were reasonable. I also received a “1st visit free” coupon when I adopted my dog from Humane Indiana, so why not? Maybe they actually care about the animals they’re treating. I needed to get heartworm and flea prevention since it was beginning to warm up outside. 1) The staff there didn’t know how to appropriately approach someone who is holding a leash to an energetic dog—I’m 6 months pregnant, and I kept getting knocked over because staff kept coming up and baby talking my excited, jumpy dog. Someone should educate them on how to appropriately walk up and/or talk to someone who is handling a dog. 2) first visit free? Yes, but no. Of course they would find something wrong that needs to be treated and payed for. They told me my dog’s poop came back positive for round worms. I was skeptical because I had even checked my dog’s poop myself shortly after adopting him to be sure it was okay, and it looked clear from parasites to me, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they’re eyes are more likely to be better trained at recognizing other signs of round worms. The vet, Dr. Hernandez, was nice, but also didn’t know how to appropriately approach a dog. She talks way more than she listens (she looked like a new doctor) and just handed me a bunch of papers, articles, and brochures. She told me the treatment of the round worms is what we would pay for today, but wouldn’t have to pay at the next visit unless we decide to do the newest round of vaccines (Lepto and Lyme). Okay. $34. Done. 3) follow up round worm treatment was one week later, and I decided to do the Lepto and Lyme vaccines since we live in a heavily wooded area with a lot of deer nearby. The vaccines cost $64 together, AND THE SECOND TREATMENT OF ROUNDWORMS COST $32. Altogether, the visit cost me over $100. WHAT?! “Wouldn’t have to pay” at the follow up? BS. They told me he needed ANOTHER follow up appointment to give him the boosters for the vaccines, and to check his poop to make sure the roundworm treatment was successful. I was already mad because I just had to dish out over $100 on something I was told would only cost the amount of the vaccines as I was juggling a toddler and an energetic dog that the staff kept coming up to pet and say hi to which was knocking me off my already-off-6-month-pregnant-big-round-belly balance. I asked how much the next follow up would cost, and the lady at the desk said, “that one is the one you’re not going to have to pay for.” Grr. Okay. Fine. I made the appointment. 4) Two week’s later (today) I took him in. Sure enough, the lady at the desk (no one bothers to tell you their name, BTW, nor do they wear name tags, except the actual vet) tells me I’m being charged $32. I asked why, and she said because they had to check his poop again to be sure there are no more round worms. “The boosters are free, but not the fecal check.” BS. I’m not paying for that. I spoke with the “manager” (also didn’t introduce herself, but it was probably “Gina”) who basically said the same thing that the desk lady said, which I understood the first time. I explained to her that they shouldn’t tell someone repeatedly that they won’t have to pay for something if it isn’t true and you’re going to make them pay anyway. I made sure my dog was okay and ready to go with his vaccine boosters, and I left. I did not stay to talk to anyone else. 5) I also don’t like that they won’t give any vaccines or treatments in front of you. They take the animal to the back and do it in an area you can’t see. Pets are like children to some people, and I like to see that people aren’t mishandling my children. Sure, their prices may be competitive and reasonable, but all they proved to me is that they will do all they can to get the nickels and dimes out of both of your pockets.
