I have shopped at Hardware City for over 25 years.  They are my go-to people for all sorts of problems - keys, locks, electrical stuff, cleaning supplies - you name it.  This is a fascinating store.  There is an unbelievable variety of items packed within a seemingly small space, and if you need something obscure there is a good chance that they have it. 

For the past 20 years I have described this as "The Place Where Everything Is Free" since the value of their advice is usually worth more than the cost of the purchase.  So I figure I'm paying a bargain price for the advice, and the items are free. I often go there not to buy a particular item, but because I have a particular problem.  They usually have a particular solution.  If they can't solve it themselves they often know who can and will take the time to tell you.  I think Bob Goggin should be recognized as some sort of hardware guru.  My experience has been that Bob knows almost everything and his son Robbie is not far behind.  They've helped me countless times and are well worth knowing.

Sad to see them leave. Been shopping there since we moved to Pembroke Pines in 1988.. Always have everything we needed even when others didn't. Will miss our little neighborhood hardware store.

If you want expert help, ask for Ed...he is very patient, knowledgeable and walks you through  step by step...I am not a 'handyman' but, he made me to be one.

First off, I though this place was still Ace as they still signage although faded (not add there photo on Google maps is the worst photo shop I've ever seen it looks like it was done on paint). They should make it clearer that it's not. I went there as my last stop before continuing my preparations for hurricane Mathew. Everyone seemed to have run out of butterfly bolts and people were scrambling trying to by some.  The lemployees were super helpful, knowledgeable, understanding, nice, quick and knew the place like it was the back of their hand. However the manager did not even atempt to help coutomers. When I showed up to the store they were already out of butterfly bolts as expected with everyone trying to get their hands on them. So I bought some normal bolts with the same thread pattern and washers (the last ones they had in the store too). The man at the register told me there are no returns after the storm which made sense. However shorty after leaving the store,  even before I returned  home my dad called me saying he had found a pack of butterfly bolts he put away the year before in the shed. So I went back to return the bolts (which they would sell right away because at that moment everyone was looking for them). The manager said no returns,  and I was trying to explain it's been less then 10 min since I left, he just walked away to what appeared to be an abandoned building next door and locked the door behind him. I have been a fan of Ace hardware for many years but I can now see why it no longer carries the company name.
