One of kind area, nice fishing pond, beautiful. Unfortunately the people fishing here have not been picking up their trash, abandoning their lines, and throwing back fish after killing them. The shore is lined with fishing line, bait, hooks, and plastic wrappers, and the pond is full of dead, floating fish. The campsite is well taken care of, but generator usage ruins the calm atmosphere.

Very clean and quiet campground located at an elevation of 9800 feet. Great place to cool off. Portable water available and the CDT trail that runs through the campground makes for a very nice hike. Abundant aspens so I imagine this place would be a beautiful fall destination. Lake is good for fishing and a nice place to paddle around in a kayak... can be very busy on the weekend

Nice campground near a small fishing lake. The lake is not for swimming as it is very murky and full of fishing hooks, but it is pretty up here. The campground has tables, fire rings and vault toilets with water spigots at the bathrooms. There is a big picnic pavilion near the lake. The Continental Divide Trail (CDT) runs through this campground. The campsites are well spaced out. While we were here there was a huge church revival group that had a giant tent so I guess there must be a group site? Further down the road are great dispersed camping sites that can hold lots of big groups. We camped in the dispersed area and hike down to the campground on the CDT. Lots of OHV trails out here. Fun place at 10,000 feet and so it's cooler up here.

Beautiful lake, awesome setting. Cleanest, most well-run campground I've ever visited.

Love Hopewell Lake. It's quiet, stocked, LOTS of hiking or jeep trails throughout plus access to Cruces Basin. It's on the continental divide and you will see Bike racers that run the entire Divide from Canada to Mexico, they come right through the campground and some camp there. Lots of families stay there, there are private gold claims in the area and some of the lower river can be panned for gold, etc... Sarah is the campground host and a wonderful helpful person. I highly recommend it. One of our favorite spots.
