This station is one of the oldest, continuously use passenger rail stations in America. It was first opened on September 1, 1873 and has been serving the Jackson community ever since. Once upon a time, over 50 passenger trains stopped here a day between three different railroads. Now, there are only six scheduled trains between Detroit and Chicago to choose from. The station still retains a lot of its original look from the 1870s and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

This is a very old station and has a historical feel to it. To some its old and boring but if you went for a ride when you were young you remember the benches and the feel. If you walk outside and go straight out to e. Michigan avenue you can walk to a couple of Coney islands..Virginia and Jackson Coney island are just around the corner..If your visiting in the summer go to cascades falls park in the evening and in the winter to sled. In the summer in June the rose parade and the carp carnival in the fall the Jackson county fair in august...
