DON'T EVER GO HERE A lot of locals have a good history with Johnson's and it appears the store rides off it's pre-existing community brand quite a bit. However, it would seem that the quality of service has dropped by some margin in recent years, I've experienced things there that could possibly amount to fraudulent business. I needed to repair a chain on my old bike and was planning to take it there. When I told friends one vouched for Johnson's saying he's always had good experiences there. The other friend claimed that he found that he had to keep taking his bike there to fix the same problem within a month. When I picked up my bike I noticed that the price seemed a bit high but didn't think too much of it. Immediately out the door I was one peddle in and the chain completely fell off. I took it back into the store and they put it back on right away for free. Other times I had a popped tube in my tire and found myself taking it back there a total of 3 times for that issue. The air would just begin to escape from the tube with no apparent reason or cause. The last time I took it there for a tire issue there my entire bike malfunctioned 20 blocks away in the middle of an intersection. A mechanism by the back tire completely ripped off and the chain was destroyed, the bike tire topped again and the I had to walk it back. I expressed my frustration with an employee outside who gave my money back saying, "I'm not admitting fault" by giving me my money back. When I said what now he tried to sell me one of their new bikes for $175. I ended up getting a bike donated to me by a friend a few days later. The same friend, her boyfriend, and her son, all of whom can make simple bike repairs, discovered my tire was fixed improperly. Johnson's employees drilled a new air valve in the tire recklessly, making the tube prone to pop eventually. Another guy on the street, who had knowledge of bikes, said the part by the back tire looked tampered with as well. All this happened within a month and a half. Moral of the story is if you want to go into that place go on ahead. But due to these series of experiences, which have cost me hundreds of dollars, I will never go back there. I can also say that no one I know will go back there, they've already told me. If you trust a place that uses a pre-existing brand to hide misconduct and fraudulence then go ahead. All I can do is personally hope that the owner is reading this review right now, knowing I know and that they've lost a chunk of their customer base.
