Story

After taking Paris by storm, internationally acclaimed chef Daniel Rose returns home with Le Coucou. A gracious modern nod to fine European gastronomy, Rose shrinks the intercontinental divide separating the City of Lights and the Big Apple, proving that the true essence of fine French dining can thrive in any time zone.

The food, service, and decor of the restaurant are absurdity fabulous. The only drawback to this restaurant is that they have a very small bar with no seats. There are some quaint lounge seats around the perimeter area that can handle exactly 6 people spread out. Do not arrive at the restaurant early with the desire to have a cocktail ahead of time. I absolutely recommend calling about 15 minutes before your reservation to ask if they will be seating your table on time. You do not want to get stuck waiting at the host area for your table as if waiting for a table at a diner, when you will pay $200 plus for dinner on the low side.

This place is superb. It's surrounded by Chinatown nonsense and stands out for its low key appearance. I just had the breakfast, the pancake was good, but the breakfast sausage and salmon bagel were my favorite items. In both cases the meat wasn't greasy or dry but just right. The coffee was a perfectly smooth cup.

Perfect. Attentive but not overwhelming service. Skate and crepe small plate recommendations were perfect. Lamb entree was good. The chop was excellent the braised neck was not as good but was the only miss. Dessert recommendations were perfect and so was the dessert. Som was very helpful at our price point. Cost was what you would expect for this quality but honestly more than fair by NYC standards. The space is simple yet perfect. All in all one of the best meals and experiences I’ve had.

I went to this restaurant for dinner on Sunday evening, and I totally enjoyed the whole experience. The service is top notch from the moment you walk inside. They serve some very classic French dishes that I remember eating in Lyon, and the taste never disappointed. There were four of us so I was able to sample four different types of food, and everything I tried was simply delicious. Especially, I was extremely happy with the flavors of sweetbreads, and the sauce that came with it. Whoever makes sauces at this restaurant is a very talented cook. Wine list is very extensive with wines from various countries and regions in those countries. Overall, I was happy about visiting this restaurant, and I know that this was not my last visit.

I would say this. Beautiful decor. Self impressed staff. Food is average at best, actually below that. Pretentious. I will never return. Maybe I am not important enough to be there. I love spending money on food and wine. My money was wasted there.
