Story

We’re a Belgian bakery and restaurant serving simple, wholesome and seasonal food. Le Pain Quotidien means “the daily bread” in French, and like our name suggests, we’re bakers at heart. Although our handmade, organic bread is how we got our start, we serve a variety of healthy options like organic coffee, pastries, eggs, tartines, soups, salads and desserts.

At Le Pain Quotidien, we believe that food should be simple, nourishing and delicious. That’s why we source ingredients that are local or organic whenever possible. We also believe in the importance of eating a healthy, plant-based diet, so you’ll find many vegetarian or vegan options on our menu.

Visited Friday June 2 for lunch. Cute decor. Unfortunately our experience was completely ruined when wife found a dead FLY in her chicken salad. It seems they didn't wash or inspect their produce before serving. The young server and her manager both froze up like deers caught in the headlights, and stumbled to offer to remove the salad from the bill. Needless to say, we were all mortified and couldn't trust their food after that. It's sad because we were visiting Chicago after several years away in another state, and this was our last day of an otherwise flawless trip. Don't trust this kitchen until they've had a thorough inspection and a change in cleanliness policy.

A nice healthy lunch. A quiet place to work late Sunday afternoon.

This place is a little confusing. The decor and vibe suggests counter service but it's 100% table service.

I really enjoyed the chia seed pudding from here. Not too sweet, with a really pleasant aftertaste. Not a fan of their weird cups for serving coffee though... they don't have handles and look more like soup bowls.

This is not a full LPQ, only quick sandwiches and pastries, not a full menu. Space is not cozy like the typical full LPQs
