Horrible! I had a appointment at 1:40 pm it took 20 minutes for me to be attended. The doctor in family practice could care less about my hair falling out. I waited for her for 30 minutes just for her to come in the room and tell me that she made a referral to a dermatologist in St. Louis. She didn’t do blood work, nothing. She said it was going to take a week for them to call me they never did. I spend one month trying to see what happened to my referral. I even went back to the hospital and they just gave me a number and I still had no answers. Now finally I called family practice back and she transferred me to the dermatologist on base. I have to wait another month for my appointment so now two months until I can be checked. Like why did they never call me like they said they would. Also why sent a referral to St. Louis when I could’ve been treated on base.
I'm being denied medication on an EXISTING prescription because their nurse T. R. is too lazy to authorize it through tricare. If my current pcm submits a new prescription it will get flagged by tricare since it will be a duplicate. As per tricare the PRESCRIBER of the medication nurse T.R. has to call to authorize it. She refuses because she's too lazy to pick up a phone. It's not the first time I've had issues with the staff at the hospital failing to do their job. Referrals weren't placed. Lab requests weren't turned in. There were several times I went in for blood work and was told that the doctor or nurse had failed to put in the order. Bottom line is they just don't care if you have what you need or not. I'm being denied much needed medication just because she refuses to make a simple phone call. T.R. has yet to return my call so we can discuss this... Yet I have been called several times by other nurses and employees who have no business with knowing my medical info telling me that T.M. doesn't feel the need to deal with this even though they know a second prescription will cause both to be flagged and denied. So since T.R. wrote a 12 month prescription I have to wait for it to expire before I can get my new pcm to write a new one in order for it to not be flagged. In the meantime I can't get the current prescription filled because she won't do her job.
We spent 4 hours at the ER and was never seen. Tried to get an appointment with our provider and they told us there were no appointments available and to call at 0700 every day to see if someone canceled. We've also submitted paperwork to get moved to a provider off post and no one has responded yet.
Most useless process to pick up meds. It's bad enough us retired folks who did what we did....I was in the midst of a morphine pump malfunction needed the drugs to off set withdrawals and it took almost 1 hour to get seen and another half hour for some odd reason....I was sweating, had towels wrapped around me ..had to carry a bag just in case puke....and they had fun letting private joe snuffy who was trying to get out of guard duty...who slept until a drill sergeant woke them up...then after the di walked away they both went back to sleep. The ER was great the day before, understood my issues and did what they could do ...the next day I was warned by my daughter the line at the pharmacy would be two hours at least... Not a good place if your waiting to get better..... When I asked about why so long.... because it's around lunch? Well if your backed up 2 hours around lunch Mr general....what is your next action let folks suffer or learn how to staff the staff during busy times...for the soldiers! If your retired or active duty assigned to this post ..your screwed when it comes to timely help ..unless you cary a pt uniform around to fake your status .. saw 3 folks change from civilian clothes to or so they could get ahead of others....if I noticed during a morphine withdrawal....it was obvious.
While visiting the Emergency Room, thanks to one of the Active Duty Sick Call Room staff members, Ms. AH, I was able to get a quick view and outstanding briefing of this excellent facility; a huge benefit for military retirees as well.
This is one of the best hospitals I've had the pleasure of going to, the staff is all extremely helpful, and they do follow the posted respect guidelines if you treat them fairly, they will show you the same level of fairness and respect you've shown them. They are always happy to inspire their patients and teach them more about the specific matter at hand, they take empathy to another level. All of the staff is extremely polite and intelligent. If you are fortunate enough to go here, you will see an abundance of compassion and they all seem to be very passionate about their job at General Leonard Wood Army hospital they will happily help you through your life's dilemma and you won't find a single layperson here.
Ive literally almost never had a good experience in a military medical facility mostly with the Navy. But I had an unexpected need to visit urgent care today and I had an overall great experience here at FLW Hospital. All the staff I encountered was friendly and helpful for the most part and the doctors I spoke with acted like they genuinely cared about my issue.
I went to the ER the other day with chest pains and was admitted within 20 minutes. My nurse was so kind and made sure I understood every test and diagnosis. I can’t remember my doctors name now, but he was super professional and I didn’t wait long to see him. I would return to the ER but hope I don’t have to again.
I’ve always had great service at Glwach they have a great nursing staff and great team of Doctors I wan’t to say a huge thank you to Dr .St.Louis you are awesome and you saved my life 3 years ago I came to the Er I was in a very bad shape Dr St Louis diagnosed what was wrong with me . He sent me out also to a specialist and worked with her on my treatment . I will forever be grateful to him. His quick thinking saved my life. Thank you Dr St Louis and GLWACH.
Its sad that there are so many reviews of people making the same complaints and yet no one seems to care. I also have not had my concerns and an injury taken seriously. I haven't ever experienced this kind of lack of concern. I am extremely tough. If I complain about something it means it's serious so it's really hard to keep advocating for yourself and continue to be brushed off. I reached out to patient advocacy, but have not heard back. Despite my overall bad experiences which are too many to list I did want to say that Dr.Martin and staff were wonderful. They listened to me, were very kind and upheld a different level of professionalism then I experienced anywhere else in the hospital. Update: After filing an ice complaint a patient advocate finally called me back only because of the complaint. When I explained my frustration he offered no apology and didn't seem to care at all. I let him know I had switched back to Tricare Select due to the issues and he didn't seem to be at all concerned about that. I do feel bad because I think this hospital is extremely understaffed. You can't get through on the phone lines, workers are exhausted. More then anything I would like to advocate for change at the Ft. Leonard Wood Hospital. I hope that change occurs and people can get healthcare they need and staff can not be overworked.
