LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina

About

The LifeCare Family of Hospitals provides a unique healing environment dedicated to the treatment of medically complex patients.

Story

LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina has 50 licensed beds and a medical staff of more than 40 physicians. We are a Medicare certified facility with accreditations by The Joint Commission and College of American Pathologists.

Our hospital specializes in the treatment of medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization. We are passionate about giving our patients the best chance at recovery from acute injury or illness by providing early and aggressive intervention in a critical care setting. Our treatment team includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and therapists across a range of disciplines — physical, speech, occupational, respiratory, recreational and psychological therapy. We believe this transdisciplinary approach helps speed physical, emotional and spiritual recovery.

We embrace each of our patients as individuals with a personal history and unique health situation and provide the compassion, support and nurturing necessary to achieve optimal recovery.

LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina has recently earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) from the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). This places our facility in an elite set of only 15 percent of hospitals in the United States that have received this award.

Mission

We are building a company that cares for each patient's body, mind and soul.
At LifeCare, we believe sharing expertise and information across medical disciplines is key to developing a treatment plan that fully addresses a patient's recovery - not simply one aspect of it.
Each treatment team is directed by a highly-skilled physician and includes experts in areas such as nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, case management, nutritional services, recreational therapy, social services and psychological services. Patients and family members are important members of the treatment team and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of care.

Pleased so far. Service is on time and good. Clean hospital. My first night here there was some complications with my condition and they called in the Specialty Nurse and she came and took care of me in the late evening. that was impressive and over and beyond the call of duty. Nurses are extremely friendly and want to help. Dr. Shiver is great, she came in twice in less than 24 hours, she already feels like a friend. We knew someone that had been a patient here in the past and they recommended us to come. We are so glad we came.

I have been with my significant other for 12 years. The care at LifeCare has been great so far. Enjoy that I am able to stay with her, it makes it easier for her and me. It helps her when she wakes up during the night that she can reach out and hold my hand. I live several hours away this is very good that I can stay in the room with her. Everyone is teaching me how to care for her and allows me to participate in her care. They are good at explaining things to me even explain the numbers on the ventilator and what they mean. The stay here has been good.

My husband was at LifeCare in December. When we arrived everyone was so helpful to my husband and to me. They made sure to encourage him to eat and turn off his wounds so they would get better. They even made sure I had lunch one day when the cafeteria was closed. All the staff was pleasant and checked on him even when he was being ornery to them. I would definitely recommend this hospital to others. Its clean and neat and the staff are great and very caring.

There aren't enough stars to rank this hospital. They blew all of the stars out of the water! The staff was great, showed compassion and concern to my husband and my family. They took care of my husband they were so good to him. They even provided food vouchers for me during a time of difficulty, so I could eat and stay with him. I was able to stay with him his entire stay. If you have to be in the hospital, this is the best place to be.

People are good people at LifeCare. I cannot say anything but good things about this hospital. Good staff, good food. Everyone goes over and beyond, they treat me like family. I love it. If I have to be in a hospital this is where I want to be. No one could go wrong in choosing this place. My father in law was a patient here about 18 years ago and you gave us 18 more years with him, when everyone else had given up on him. You gave him back to us! Angie cut my hair for me also, that is what I mean by everyone goes over and beyond! Love it! Love it!
