Stayed in room 503. PROS: Beautiful building and rooms. Great and friendly customer service. Great views from the room and the observation deck. Close to everything. CONS: Bathroom door's lock doesn't work correctly. Thermostat has a mind of its own and the bedroom gets too hot before the living room does. Why is there no light in the front door hallway?

The hotel decor and ambience is beautiful! Room sizes are decent, restrooms are a little small, but overall very comfortable! Love coming in every night to a clean bedroom with caramel candy on my bed, FREE water, and restocked toiletries. One of my favorite things were their dispensable shampoo and conditioner boxes! At other hotels, I always use it up fast! I hate having to ask for more to be restocked because of the small mini portioned bottles they offer.. My hair needs more! Here they have it all in a medium sized dispenser! You bet I used more than a small bottle every night! My hair needs to be conditioned!! I loved it! It was so easy and accessible. They also offer a lot of other travel items, snacks, and games if you forget to bring anything. They're free!! There should be a list somewhere in your room! Don't hesitate to ask! Great stay! You definitely won't be disappointed.

The 5-star rating is for the eye-catching historic building, visible from many vantage points in downtown Boston. We did not stay here but read that for $7, non-guests can go up to the observation deck to enjoy sweeping views of the city. We showed up to buy tickets but were told that the observation deck was closed that day because of the weather. Definitely a good idea to call them before coming.

Location is great but this hotel gets 1-star for customer service. The amenities are limited as well. The valet accidentally marked the leather upholstery in my brand new car with a black marker. The hotel staff refused to take responsibility which was very disappointing for a facility that touts itself as upscale. Their rationale was that I did not immediately report it before I left the hotel and waited until I got home that evening. How many of us thoroughly inspect every component of our car when we get it back from a valet? Additionally, we arrived two hours before the 4PM check-in and they surprisingly would not accommodate an early check-in for my wife to nurse my infant daughter. We stayed at the hotel off peak (middle of the week in winter). It seems unlikely that there would not be a single available room to make this reasonable accommodation.

We love this place!  The historic Customhouse building itself is fantastic....and the location in Boston can't be beat! The staff are so helpful...the rooms are so luxurious. ..what more can I say?
