Those of us who live in the west valley are incredibly lucky to have this kind of nature preserve literally in our back yards. I'm up there at least 2 or 3 times a week. Thankfully clueless urban idiots largely stay away, but you do have to deal with dog poop on the trails and rarely, trash in the form of discarded water bottles, Starbucks drink containers, banana and orange peels, etc. Thankfully little though, considering the easy access from the city. The SM Mountains authority who run it do a good minimalist job of keeping it maintained and most users are respectful and treat it with care. Wildlife abounds, especially on the Topanga side where dogs are not allowed and it's a bit cooler in the summer due to the ocean breeze. The Braude gate at the top of Reseda Bl. is a great entry point, you can head east on Mulholland to the Nike site (or do the Caballero canyon loop), you can go west and enter into Topanga state park at the top of the hill. Hiking, jogging, mountain biking, etc all incredible.

Top of Reseda has very good mountain biking and hiking. Get to the hub, then the foundation and on to Michael Lane. Come back via Caballero Canyon.

This might be a nice hiking trail IF the dog owners didn't use it as an unsupervised bathroom for their dogs. Poop everywhere!
