This is one of my favorites in Aspen. You can never go wrong with the chef's menu as you get to try a whole lot of things that you would never even consider ordering (or may not even be on the menu). The sake and wine list here is amazing, as are the cocktails. The atmosphere is posh and is what you'd expect from a Matsu restaurant. This location is more intimate than the one in Vail, though the views at that location is absolutely breathtaking. 5 star dining experience.

It was one of the worst sushi experience we've had. Sushi was OK, but way overpriced. So, 1 star deducted. The restaurant was very noisy (like a bar, not a sushi restaurant), 1 more star deducted. Finally, the Scallops with Wasabi Pepper or Spicy Garlic Sauce specialty dish we ordered was way way too salty. It seemed that the chef did not look how much salt was "poured" into the dish, so mushrooms and asparaguses were like uneatable. Another star deducted.

We eat tons of sushi and this was honestly the worst sushi I've ever had. We got a couple of the rolls and they hardly tasted like anything and were dry. The server we had was extremely rude and was upset that we didn't order any alcohol (which we don't even drink.) The Sushi was expensive and we felt like both the food and service was very poor. I honestly don't understand how this place has amazing reviews... Very disapointed with our experience.

The food is great. It gets 4 out of 5 for the sometimes annoying attitude you get from staff because they know it's an attractive place. But worth going if you're willing to run the gauntlet. (And it is expensive, but not crazily so.)

Worst sushi we've ever had. Very disappointing. The rolls were tiny small, not flavorful, cold rice. My rolls are tastier when I make at home. Don't waste your hard earned money.
