Fantastic program. I like the ambassadors milling around always willing to help with downtown issues The eyes and ears of the neighborhood. Makes me think of the Bobbies in England, even though the Ambassadors are not trained law enforcement personnel like the Bobbies are. Shout out to Wyatt and Nora for taking the time to chat with me while walking my dog one evening. My dog loved his doggie treat 😊 Keep up the great work and see you on the streets. 👍

This program is smart on so many levels: the numerous 'ambassadors' always smile and happily answer questions from visitors. They pick up every piece of litter carelessly tossed from passing cars, and they seem trained to proactively intervene when someone with apparent mental health issues or intoxication needs help. In recent years, the Minneapolis police have abandoned the role I remembered as a kid: the once-approachable officers wear sunglasses indoors, and project an attitude that they are not to be bothered. I wouldn't approach a cop today if I witnessed a robbery or passed an open-air crack dealership, but I would wave down the first DID Ambassador available, and be confident that they would serve and protect our community.
