I wish they had an option for no star at all. That's what I would rate the Moncks Corner Police Department. Moncks Corner Police Department has really let me down and made me ashamed of living in the town of Moncks Corner. I had an incident where a car hit my vehicle and then left the scene. Luckily a witness saw the incident and was a good citizen as he wrote down the vehicle's tag number and got a description of the car. He then came into the store and let us know that someone had hit our car and left the scene. Me, thinking that the police would actually do their job and SERVE and PROTECT it's citizens, called 911 to report it. From the start, the officer acted as though he didn't care about what happened. When I asked if they were going to go after the people, after all they had BROKEN THE LAW and they knew the name and address of the drivers, he said we would probably never catch them because it would be hard to prove. Umm....hello....you have the name AND address of the vehicle's owner!! And "oh your insurance company will definitely go after them because they don't want to pay for your damage to your car." Wait a minute...it is MY insurance company getting PAID to go and find people who break the law and make them pay for it? NOT!! I called the officer a few days later to get an update and was told that NO ONE EVER WAS SENT to check it out or follow up. I tried to follow up SEVERAL times to get updates and answers to no avail. I tried going up and speaking to the Chief...he acted like he cared less than the officer did (which is pretty much not at all) and said there should have been police sent out to the residence and he would follow up to see why there wasn't. I have yet to hear anything even after 3 times of calling back and getting sent to voicemails that were NEVER returned. I tried calling the officer back, left a message and did I get a call back? NO! I tried calling the Captain. Did I ever get a call back after leaving a message? NO! These people broke the law and the police department knew exactly where to find the owners and nothing was ever even attempted to be done. I try to have respect for police officers because that's the way I was raised and just to have respect for police for the very nature of their job but I have absolutely confidence in this department. They have a lack of respect and service for the town they are supposed to be serving. The oath they took to SERVE and PROTECT. They do neither in my opinion!
