Story

Located at the southern reaches of the Laurel Ridge, Ohiopyle State Park
encompasses approximately 20,500 acres of rugged natural beauty and serves
as the southern gateway to the Laurel Highlands. Passing through the heart of
the park, the rushing waters of the Youghiogheny [yaw-ki-gay-nee] River Gorge
are the centerpiece for Ohiopyle. The “Yough” [yawk] provides some of the best
whitewater boating in the eastern United States, as well as spectacular scenery.
Ohiopyle State Park is part of the protection and advocacy for this region by
participating in the Laurel Highlands Conservation Landscape Initiative (CLI).
This group is a partnership with landowners, community members, non-profit
organizations and other stakeholders to protect the natural resources and bring
community revitalization.

Honestly the best camping/hiking/biking/fishing/rafting/exploring State Park that I have ever visited. Highly recommend spending the night and devoting an entire weekend because there are so many things to do here. Great scenic views. Laurel Caverns, Kentuck Knob, and Fort Necessity are a short drive away. I've been here 6-7 weekends and I'm still finding new things to do. Wish I could give it more that 5 stars.

Beautiful park. The waterfall, alone, makes this park worth a visit. A nice easy drive from Pittsburgh, PA this is a must visit. Great fun during the summer when the more adventurous can ride the river through the tube. The scrapes and bruises are well worth it. A great place for a hike.

Had one of the best times here. Amazing place for nature lovers or even photographers. Love the falls and the stream through out. Went during autumn and got to see the best of autumn colors of USA.

One of my favorite places to visit! I've been twice. The first time was the town's festival. There were so many vendors from all over. It was fun meeting new people. The park is beautiful and there's tons of places to hike and bike! The main trail can be traveled to other cities. The park might not be for people scared of bridges/heights. Most of the trails near the water are connected by bridges high off of the ground. The town is nice and quaint. I LOVE getting jarred goods from there (the jalapeño raspberry jam is worth the drive). There's good food and a couple activities (bike rental, mini golf, etc) in the town as well.

Fun anniversary trip. Ohiopyle sandwich and bakery is a great place for lunch. Sandwiches are made to order by selecting your choice if bread, meats, veggies etc. Was one if the best sandwiches I gave had and look forward to visiting again in the summer.
