Snazzy old boys club bar and grill from the 1800's. We went for breakfast were seated quickly but then realized we would be late for our tour of Capital. Waiter comped orange juice and we left. Came back for lunch (wait staff actually remembered us)wife had the trout and I had the buffalo chicken sandwich both were delicious. Great decor also. Will go back for breakfast one day.

Very good food and drinks. Our server was very attentive to our needs as was were a group of 12, I was impressed. The location could not be better. Old Ebbitt is a top restaurant for food and service in D.C. I would highly recommend you dine here while visiting the National Mall. Reservations are a must.

What a cool place to go have dinner with my wife. We were in town for 24 hours and made this our first stop for dinner. The food was amazing but the atmosphere was even better. I was able to get a reservation early In the afternoon for that night. I had the chowder and cakes. Both were perfect.

So this place is so iconic and beautiful. We made our reservations and we're walked through a beautiful 100 year old wood paneled dining room with animal mounts all over the walls and oil lamps filling the whole space up with classy atmosphere. They walked us right out the back door to like an indoor patio in a brightly lit modern building. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. So, lesson learned, if you make a reservation specify which dining room you prefer.

The place is historic. I have been numerous times and have had good experiences each time. The food is terrific and the staff go out of their way to make the experience special. Just make sure you sit in the restaraunt-proper or at the bar and not the outside overflow section. The outside section feels much like any other joint, maybe even worse. It felt like the courtyard of a hotel in that section. The atmosphere inside is much better.
