Based off food alone I would give 5 stars. Great value and quality....if only I could say the same about the service. We waited 15 minutes to be greeted by our server. She returned with drinks in ample amount of time. Food came out quickly but we did not see our server again until we were almost done eating. She asked how we were doing and we said good. Two bites later we were finished and proceeded to wait another 15 minutes to be offered dessert. We had planned on having dessert but by the time we were offered we had opted to go to ice cream instead of spending more money for crappy service. The food runner got us bread(complimentary to every table) and drink refills as our server was not taking any initiative to serve us. We asked for bread when entrees came because it was clear she was never bringing it. If I could have tipped the food runner I would have. He was more of our server than anyone. Service definitely affected my experience at The Hamilton.

First off, the food was very good. But that didn’t make up for the horrible service we received. When we first walked in, we were greeted by a hostess that seemed a bit stuck up and didn’t make us feel very welcome. She told us there were no tables open but we could sit at a high table in the bar area, sure no big deal. However, when I walked to the restroom in the back of the restaurant, there were probably 20 tables open. I understand that there may have not been enough servers available, but I would think they would be sure that wouldn’t happen being that they are located in the heart of busy Washington DC and it was the weekend. Our server was also less than impressive. It took us about 20 minutes just to get a glass of water. Then, when we gave our cards to pay, he came back with them but gave our friend the wrong card. So then they had to search for where his card went. THEN, when my husband checked his bank account the next day, he saw that he had been charged 3 times and they were all different amounts. How does that even happen?? We were really excited to try this place, but most likely will not be returning because of this experience.

Great selection of food and drinks. Although we were never offered or suggested anything and was just handed a glass of water. The staff took a while to help us. We were offered bread, but it never showed up. Upon being greeted by the waitress we were told that no waiters had been assigned in our section. Which was awfully strange given the booths behind us and in front were occupied. I guess because we weren't dressed to impress that we weren't a priority. That's the vibe we definitely got. The food was great, especially the Spanish octopus appetizer, and reasonably priced. But the service alone was enough to keep me away, and to tell others about it. Not impressed.

Excellent upscale place to grab a drink or eat. The atmosphere is 5 stars and the service is excellent. The food is a solid 4.5 stars. I had a hamburger with fries that was excellent. They offer live music in a downstairs area. One of the best places in downtown DC.

We had lunch here with my wife's family, who were staying at the Willard across the road. The ambiance is just amazing - plenty of dark wood, interesting paintings, and the personnel is very courteous. The place is huge too - there are several huge areas, inclusion 2 bar areas, all highly stylish. The food was delicious too - and surprisingly, totally affordable! Go here!!!
