Osteria Del Fornaio
"Osteria is defining the idea of modern/traditional Italian cuisine. From the lineage that created the iconic Il Fornaio, Osteria combines the best of old-world Italia with modern day California. Using the freshest ingredients, making our own pastas and pizzas in house, and sourcing locally grown vegetables and herbs, we’ve created a contemporary California concept that even your Nonna could call home!"

Great place!!! Went for brunch and everything was perfect! Drinks on point I had a margarita it was well balanced! The food was fresh and tasty. Pasta is freshly made so delicious! Pizza was delicious I loved the white pizza so good that I didn’t get a chance to take a picture. The service is great you feel at ease right away! I forgot my phone they kept it safe and they were just so nice, it’s a new place but I will definitely go back!
I had a wonderful experience this weekend. An amazing happy hour menu. Food was great and delicious! An open and inviting space walking distance toward the beach and the promenade. The entire staff was attentive and everyone including the guests were enjoying themselves. Best dining experience I've had since before 2020!
The atmosphere is excellent is a very nice summery place. My hubby and sat outside and we really enjoyed our meal. The device was very friendly and the managers are checking every detail. The pastas are fresh and the flavors are SUPERB. I could not wait to write this, highly recommend! Next … desert…. I’ll keep you posted. The dessert didn’t disappoint. Osteria del Fornagio see you AGAIN!
In the heart of Santa Monica, the place is beautiful and big and clean! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The service was great, and the prices were fairly reasonable and standard for Santa Monica. The food came out hot and quick and was fresh and delicious! We had the wellness drink, the margherita pizza, and the pistachio pesto pasta.
My first time here at Osteria Del Fornaio in Santa Monica, and I really enjoyed this place. The food was very good, and the service by Fiona, and Mathew was excellent. The pizza Margherita was prepared to perfection, the baked cauliflower was simply delicious, the foccaccia was fantastic, the Tuna tartar was delicious, and the Copa Osteria dessert was mouth watering. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend Osteria Del Fornaio.
It's nice to see Santa Monica's restaurant scene coming back to life. Osteria is what future dining is all about, open, airy and affordable. The food was tasty, we had a sampling of dishes pictured are the grilled octopus and the tuna appetizer & was treated to a chef's tasting of a pesto pasta & a yummy cocktail, from their friendly, attentive staff. It's newly opened, so once they get into flow, it's going to be a happening spot. Welcome to the neighborhood. Came in for a 2nd time & they have a great happy hour!! Well priced drinks & appetizers!! Super friendly staff.
To agree with another reviewer, subpar Italian, even for Santa Monica. With so many flavorful Italian options in Santa Monica, please don't bother. Orto, Elephante, even Maria's Italian chain restaurant, would deliver a more flavorful meal. Perhaps being a foodie, and having trained as a chef, I look for places that can cook better than I. Hasn't been that big of a challenge with all that the area offers. Unfortunately, this is not one of those places. Went in for brunch/lunch, only to be told that my request for egg-whites was against the "chef's choice" and would have to select something else never at any restaurant I have EVER been to, was this request not granted. Chose what I thought would be an easy, tasty alternative, with a Panzanella Salad and a bowl of Minestrone. Was not. The Panzanella - which is defined as a tomato and bread salad was served with FAR unripened, hard tomatoes and six tiny "toasted" bread crumbs. It lacked pepper, salt and garlic - not to mention the stale bread traditionally soaked in the dressing. On to the watery, flavorless Minestrone. No depth, no hearty consistency - honestly think a can of Campbell's would have won any competition against the water bowl with vegetables I was given. No pepper on the table to try to make it palatable, no fresh parmesan offered....such a disappointment. Didn't even bother to clean the splashed soup from the sides of the bowl before serving. My young daughter enjoyed the fried sugar-based concoction she chose - reminded me of a state fair item. I'm all for utilizing open space in Santa Monica - but would equate this office building based restaurant as perhaps a cafeteria. If you go in with those expectations it won't disappoint - until you take into account the prices! As for the staff.....goodness. To me, a customer-based hospitality industry restaurant that is new to the area, would have superb staff, doting on their customers if only to make a name for themselves. Never have I had a waiter start my service, then chose or be forced to go on a break without telling their tables they were doing so? Very strange indeed. Noting the conversations and requests at surrounding tables, I was not alone in my review. Won't spend another dollar there.
The place and staff is amazing. They are well versed with the menu and gave me great picks. The food and drinks is worth the drive meatball, pizza, tuna tartare.Recommended dishesTartara Di Tonno, Margherita
Oh, 5 stars all the way. Yes, I will be back. Short story, this is Elefante without all the hype and the unneeded attitude. Staff: Happy! From the two bartenders, to the manager who was walking around, to the servers who tended to us, everybody working at this place has a great, positive attitude... with a smile. Spacious! The inside has room for about 20 or so tables of four. There's a large bar area that will seat about 12 to 15 people. Then there is a massive outside patio which has another room for about 50 or so tables. I mean I can only imagine during the summer how packed this place must be. On a cold December day like today, it was still comfortably full with room for walk-ups to grab a table quick. Food, Amazing! We started off with the 1. Cacio e Pepe pizza: subtle cheesy ricotta base flavor, then add in the pecorino & grana bite. It's a good combo with the fresh cracked pepper. 2. Maccheroni tartufali. Finally, a place that makes something with truffle oil that you can actually taste the truffle. Clouds parting, sunshine rays beaming through. It's that good! Probably the number one favorite thing I liked on the happy hour menu next to the tuna. Which is coming up next. 3. Tartara Di Tonno: probably the best thing on the menu here. It's a cup filled with tuna chunks and avocado, topped with micro greens. Quite the tasty treat. The bread that comes with it is out of this world. It's a soft crostini that has a crisp outside, and is chewy and soft inside. 4. Caponata: to die for. It's the perfect blend of eggplant, tomato, caper, onions, all stewed together lightly with a touch of vinegar. With the crostini, it's reminiscent of something you would find in Sicily for sure. I could go on and on about this place, especially the great atmosphere and the happy hour vibe. Definitely a spot you could come to on a date, or with a group of friends, or even a business meeting, and feel like you had a Taste of Italy with just the happy hour menu. Future update to follow.
Been meaning to try this spot for a while, came along for happy hour and it was great. The size pizza you get for $8 is the best value I’ve seen in a long time. Service is quick and friendly and the food was delicious. Fiancé had the fettuccini and loved it too. Will 100% be back for more.
