Story

Pago strives to create an exceptional dining experience outside of recognized dining destinations while focusing on local artisan producers in our region. We offer seasonal, new American cuisine, with an ever-changing menu to reflect the best seasonal ingredients we can find from local providers. The high quality food and service comes without the formal or stuffy atmosphere -- no white linens or jackets-required here, just top-notch service from friendly, knowledgeable servers.
With less than a dozen tables tucked into the small dining area, and a extra half-dozen tables on the patio during warmer months, dining at Pago feels both urban and intimate. Located in the Woodman Building (built in 1910), in the charming 9th and 9th neighborhood, Pago is just minutes away from downtown Salt Lake City.

Bummed to put 3 stars, but that's what it was on our last visit for brunch. The coffee was burnt, even the second fresh cup we requested, the food was barely warm as well, and just not up to the quality we are used to from Pagos. Maybe we hit an off day, because in the past the experience was amazing with super high quality food and staff. Will definitely give them another go for dinner, which has always been great.

We loved our food at Pago. To start, we got the cheese board and two oysters. The amount of cheese on the cheese board was a little more scant than what you might get at similar restaurants like HSL or Copper Onion, but there were many other accoutrements that made it worth while. The oysters we're fresh and delicious. My wife got the chicken and I got the burger as our mains. All of it was very tasty, though the burger leaned more towards medium rare than the medium that I requested. I didn't mind too much though. The real reason I knocked a star off was because the staff was very slow. They were all friendly and fine otherwise, but the meal took us nearly two hours and all we got were apps and mains. We would have ordered dessert, but we had other things to get to.

I am being generous with this two. Honestly, the hostess and the food is keeping this from a solid .5. We selected Pago off of a bucket list for my 30 during 30 list and were excited to try such a cool looking place. Our server was fine, he left us mostly alone which worked since it was a girls night to chat and visit. We ate fast and were engaging. We loved the environment and even posted about it initially. The food was good. The steak was lovely and the chicken was better than average. But our server hurried us at the end and it was awkward. The next day I found my bill to be over, I take photos of my signed receipts and double checked to find that our server Jesse had added a number to boost his tip. I was shocked. What a small, silly action with a large principal. Jesse stole from me. I waited until today to call and fix it, the lead server interrupted and tried to rush me off the phone. Then his explanation kept retiring to the fact that this "doesn't sound like Jesse, are you sure?" I am mortified. Really? Insinuating I am lying is not productive or a good way to keep customers. The manager called to resolve and again treated me horribly. Only offering to refund the amount stolen, which I thanked him for, he then placed his server as the priority. Justifying the length of time Jesse has worked for them as a way to downplay the actions. I don't care. If he has worked for them a week or five years...fact is that Jesse felt that he could add to my bill for personal gain. Stealing. I pointed out that this made me feel like he didnt understand or take my situation seriously, the manager was so rude and raised his voice at me. Is this how places like Pago treat people who dine there? I know I am not retiring and I won't be recommending it. I can't believe the inconvenience they have caused.

Fantastic food! Both the duck breast and bavette steak were fantastic! It's pretty small inside but very charming. You might want a reservation since tables are limited. I'd highly recommend and will definitely go back!

Always amazing food. Friendly and quick service. Atmosphere here is fun and chill. I love coming here with the wife. Make sure you get your reservations. Brung an empty stomach and prepare to have your tastebuds rocked.
