Story

Whether you’re a curry girl or a Pad Thai kind of guy, the Thai explosion has been one of Salt Lake City’s best dining developments in recent years. Sawadee may be the new kid on the block, but we’re glad it moved in—and so close to the Avenues. Adventurous diners will appreciate authentic Thai seafood dishes the likes of which have not often been seen in these parts and, for those who already know what they want—curries, natch—Sawadee offers a rainbow of them.

Pros: Very beautiful decor and lovely atmosphere. Fresh food that came quickly. Very flavorful, impressed by the coconut soup even though it's not necessarily my thing. Service very helpful and friendly. Cons: This was my mistake for misinterpreting, but be warned that the portions are family portions so we accidentally ordered way too much. But again, it could have definitely been my fault. So very good place to bring many people for a fair price. Is it the best Thai place in Utah as said? I would disagree, but that is up to preference and this comes to a close second on my list.

This was a great place to go for lunch. There's lot of food on the lunch special, and service is very fast. The food was good quality and tasted good, but I felt the vegetables were under seasoned for my liking. I would go back. Update 2/2/2018: I really wanted to like this place because it has so many good reviews, but my friend and I were quite disappointed this time around. First of all, the menu is huge, and choosing what you want is anything but easy. I always get wary of big menus, because the chefs have to be able to prepare everything as quickly as possible and they probably don't have time to perfect a few recipes. Furthermore, the chicken in my dish tasted like what thawed chicken smells like and as though the slimy residue hadn't been washed off. Needless to say, it was quite off putting.

So, disclaimer - I decided I don't like Thai food... but they have amazing pricing for a down town nice restaurant... I think we ate for $20 for 2 with tip.... Now, the rest of the family loved the food... I liked like the BBQ pork and salad. The restaurant itself was very nice - I was really impressed.. The staff was great and we got our food fast... If I liked Thai food, I would definitely go again

Some of the best Thai food in Salt Lake. We really love this place. They have a great calamari and several wonderful main entrees. The wait staff is great. We are never waiting on drink refills and the food is always out quick. Plus they use fresh ingredients. I would recommend this place over and over again.

Super popular Thai place in historic SLC. I love the fried rice. Huge portions in general so it's usually worth sharing. Gets quite busy on the weekends. Tons of gluten free options.
