Every time I head up north towards Colorado, Pecos National Park has my visit. I always visit the beautiful park, it just has so much to offer, a wonderful hiking trail and ruins that you can explore. It’s a must see in Pecos!

Warning! Google maps GPS can send you to the wrong place!! But don't give up, ask around in a gas station if this happens to you. The GPS took me to a gas station, but they were quick to direct me. I visited from another state, this place is definitely a ways out. The information provided in the visitor center was very informative and we'll put together. The ruins are a good walk out, take comfortable shoes and depending on the weather maybe a sweater (it started to rain for us). It's definitely worth the drive! You can enter an old food storage area, I had a great time here!!! The history here is very important to the development of the united States

Fascinating historical place, worth your time and small detour. Well-preserved kivas and lots of great ruins. The museum in the welcome center has outstanding historical pieces and dioramas. The walk through the old pueblo ruins is easy and only a mile or so.

I give National Parks five stars because I love our NPs. This isn't Yellowstone, Yosemite, or one the the greater ones. But, it's still pretty cool. The one thing that bothers me is that they hype the Indian ruins which are cool, but treat the battle site of the Battle of Glorietta Pass (One of the western most Civil War battles) as though they are storing it in a broom closet. If you're a Civil War history fan, go to the visitor center, spend the $2 for the interpretive trail guide. Otherwise, you're just out for a nice walk in the woods.

The total experience at Pecos National Historical Park was far above our expectations. The site and the museum are possibly the best maintained of all national park facilities that we have visited in our 60+ years of traveling. The staff was friendly and helpful. The site is clean and very well marked with historical significance. Totally amazing historical site that we knew nothing about – from the Pueblo ruins to a civil war battlefield and working ranch facilities. Don’t miss it!
