They had the audacity to require me to pay more money on an item I needed exchanged. I needed to exchange it because it arrived damaged. Their reasoning for charging me more was that at the time of the exchange, the item was no longer on sale for the same price so I had to cover the difference.

I was a bit frustrated with my shopping experience at the Pier 1 imports in Goodyear, Arizona. First and foremost i have shopped at this store store previously and i have had a wonderful experience with other associates and managers. Greg has previously helped me before and want to mention he is wonderful! I have had other helpful associates such as Marilyn, Michelle and Valerie. So the Rude and obnoxious person i dealt with yesterday was Tammy. I was greeter by another associate which i don't remember her name, but i was assisted by Tammy. I mentioned a few things i was looking for and she would totally direct me toward another item which i did not like, after looking around the store i found the items i was looking for thanks to the other great associate. So while i was looking for the other items i have never seen a so called "manager" speak to other employees as if they were so simpleminded. I don't think i will be visiting this store anymore, i will take the drive to Surprise or Arrowhead.

So apparently I am the only person to have had issues with my $500+ dining room table (2 times) and so there for it is not a quality issue to replace it. I have an MBA and am smart enough to know quality issues start somewhere and customer service should be at the forefront of any company. But don't be the only person this happens to or you are just out of luck and "they" say its not replaceable. When I contacted the Goodyear, AZ Store Manager Greg the other day, he seemed to have worked out with the Scottsdale, AZ store manager Lauri that I just needed to go in and show proof of the damage; the same damage that resulted in an exchange 1 year after I bought the table. I called Customer Relations today to ensure I would not have any problems before I started running around the city to resolve this. Crystal who is a lead in the "they" group said there were no other cases of this issue, other than the one I had 4 years ago for the same problem, so it does not justify another exchange. You can see from the picture this is not normal wear and tear. This is an issue with the stripping put around the table peeling off. So Pier 1 Imports, my days of shopping with you are over. I would like to give my money to a company that values each customer concern as significant. Not to say if it hasn't happen to others than there is nothing we can do for you. You should consider marking down the prices on your goods that are not able to withstand more than 4 years of use. Normal sitting at the table for dinner with your family use. What a disappointment that I spent more on a table with the belief it would last longer. They have amazing beautiful things inside but if you buy their furniture at this store make sure you order it brand new and DO NOT take what you see on the floor. My husband and I tried to by a buffet table and we had to take it apart ourselves, which is fine, but as my husband took it apart he learnt that whoever put it together glued the screws in so he was unable to take it all apart and stripped the screw and ended up breaking one. (We had to take it apart so it would fit in our car btw.) We decided it was fine, we'd make it work. Once we got the bottom piece in the car we noticed the top wood piece was cracked all the way through underneath it. So we had to take it all out of the car. And not to mention the fact we had a 1 year old baby sitting the heat waiting for us. All in all, I am not happy with the customer service we received and that stupid people don't know how to put together furniture. Horrible!!
