Nice place to spend weekend away from DC. Several beaches at Chesapeake bay and Potomac river. So you can pick salted or fresh water to swim. Campsites are usually available but it's better to reserve them in advance. Not much bugs which is surprising. State park has a small museum in visitor center about Civil war camp. Access to lighthouse is restricted so you can just watch it. People believe that it is haunted and ghosts of two Civil war solders live there.

Really cool to visit this historic place! It was December so it wasnt warm outside but it was still nice to see the beach area, and all the buildings you could walk inside.

Went camping here with my husband and son last weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. They have nice little campsites with fire pits and places to set up a tent. They have nice, clean bathroom facilities, and there is a great little dog beach close to the campgrounds. Really enjoyed our stay here. They also apparently have cabins as well, but we didn't utilize these, so not sure how these are.

Park in poor shape. Camp ground is dirty messy and camphost are worst offenders with trash and junk around.

Great place and location. But small. Did not camp or fish. Limited hiking distances but beautiful views.
