Every year on the weekend after Labor Day, a couple hundred hot air balloon owners gather for a festival at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno. You have to get up early to enjoy this -- the big event happens at a 0700. You need to be there by 0600, there's a crowd. It's amazing! Crisp morning air (wear layers!). All the colorful balloons laying over sideways filling up with hot air and then becoming vertical and taking off into the sky is fascinating and quite beautiful. And Reno manages the event really well.

Love the dog park at Rancho San Rafael. Good people and good dogs for the most part. Dogs will be dogs. The area is generally weed free so the dogs don't pick up a lot of but a or foxtails. Lots of nice walking trails for walk I n or dog walking on leash too. Trees and grass, well maintained landscape. We are lucky to have such a nice park.

Amazing! My favorite park in reno! Take the kids here every weekend! The park is always well maintained and clean. I can feel comfortable about letting my kids run and play without the worry of heroine needles like at some other public parks. They have pony rides on the weekends in the summer and animals for the kids to look at and learn about. I love this park!!

Upkeep is mediocre, the big open field is excellent for dogs to run around, I personally don’t care if other dogs are leashes or not but owners have a tendency to bring dogs who are not trained and may attack. The fence, dogs can easily crawl under and run away, and the gates are left open. I’d like to see better upkeep, redesigned and reenforced fences, a 2-gate system in place (in the event a dog “escapes” it has to go through another gate), owners training their dogs not to be vicious, more doggy bag locations and filled more often. Other than that, the park is great, comes with a view, nice wide and open for you and/or your dogs to run around
