It's a nice, quiet place to go for a run, walk, or otherwise just get outdoors. As far as the wildlife goes, I've seen scores of deer, hundreds of prairie dogs, hundreds of rabbits, and there are, of course, the ominous hawks and birds of prey-- they can be seen posted along the perimeter patiently awaiting their next meal. There was but one occasion where the rumored herd of bison were, indeed, seen by one of the folks in our group...I, however, was not that one. As such, I can neither confirm nor deny any such presence. Nonetheless, it is, as I stated, a decent place to get out of the indoors and have the ability to see (on many, if not most days) for miles in all directions. Enjoy!

Absolutely amazing experience - Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is a must visit if you are visiting Denver. To start things off, the Refuge is 100% free to visit. The staff at the visitor center were friendly and knowledgeable of the space. We took the driving tour and were able to see many deer, birds, and Buffalo. At one point an entire herd of Buffalo walked feet in front of our car. Such a unique experience that you can't get anywhere else. Beautiful animals, beautiful scenery.

Awesome place to see and learn about wildlife. Bison, bald eagles, deer, and a lot more. The auto tour is definitely recommended to see all the animals but don't leave your vehicles, it spooks the wildlife and is just unsafe. Other than that, definitely check out their free environmental education programs. Very informative! I attended their Falcon Frenzy where they brought in 5 falcons! It was awesome. Definitely check it out! Free admission for everyone!

Quiet, peaceful landscape. Make sure you go slowly as you pass both individual trees and small clusters of trees. It was amazing to see these animals roaming in their own environment. I should have driven a little more slowly because I missed getting a good look at some striking black and white birds. I had never seen there species before.

(Warning: young adults from Central Florida during a fall vacation) Interesting expanse of an area. The Bison area is surrounded by a fence where you can ONLY ENTER INSIDE A VEHICLE. We drove fairly slow-- at around 30 mph, you can cross this enclosure in less than 10 minutes. There was not a ton of animals-- we saw TWO SMALL PACKS OF BISON, some deer, and small prairie dog-looking animals, but most of the time, it was just an expanse of grass. Outside the enclosure, there’s hiking areas, but we didn’t enter those. For the FREE ENTRY, this is a cool area to drive through.
