Telling the story of San Francisco's transit history.

Story

The San Francisco Railway Museum packs a great experience into a compact space, just across from the famous Ferry Building. The museum is designed to complement the historic rail vehicles of the F-line and cable car lines by serving as an information and interpretation center for them.

Both of the people working today were incredibly kind, helpful and knowledgeable they even told us about cable cars in the city we are from. Its a quick stop but nice to see

My review would be 3.5 stars if the option were available. While the proprietors of this museum are extremely friendly and some of the content is interesting, the museum is so small that it is not worth going out of your way to see. If anything, this is closer to a gift shop then a museum. While it's worth seeing if you are in the area, I would not go out of your way to visit.

Interesting small museum. Make sure you see the cable car museum too as they're related. Free entry but suggested $4 donation.

A fun small and free place to visit. Packed with lots of information about the history of the cable cars and street cars.

Fantastic, though small, museum detailing the history of San Francisco's electric streetcar history. Many models and information boards. Friendly staff were able to provide all sorts of neat facts and additional history. Needs to be much bigger. Free admission.
