Went to an exhibit today celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Summer of Love ('67 - '17). They had an ingenious setup for presenting the audio artifacts. Of course, they had era-appropriate music playing at low volume throughout the whole exhibit, but for poetry readings, protest speeches, etc., they had an iPod connected to an old-school phone receiver. It was so smart! It was mostly photographs, posters, and other paper artifacts, but they also had one corner that was 'interactive' where you could write your own 'Beat poetry' or write a wish for the world on a paper leaf and attach it to their 'wish tree'. They definitely conveyed the idea of what the Summer of Love was about, and how it changed SF, and ultimately, an entire generation.

Excellent resource for California history and sociology. There's a small museum space with periodic exhibits of varying depth and breadth, and a bookstore.

Very small exhibition space seems to limit the current exhibition to one specific topic. You may want to call before going to see if the current exhibition is of interest to you.
