Dates of stay: 24-25 Jan 18 Nice area, nice lake. Park is about 8 miles north of 1-40...grab all your last minute essentials before leaving the city of Santa Rosa. Went during off season, so the only area open for RV/Trailer camping was Rocky Point Loop A which is all electric. If you don't use or need electric, you are somewhat forced to pay extra $$$ for a spot with electric. Primitive camping at Los Tanos is also open...not a drive up to your spot and set up, this area is where you park and walk into tent campsite (50-75 feet walk). No ground level fire rings in Rocky Point (or any other camp area from what I saw). Your campfire goes into a pedestal style (waist-level) rectangle charcoal grill designed to cook food...I've never seen a park without a ground-level fire rings. This is a deal breaker for me, I like campfires at night and won't be back to this particular state park. Most all of pictures included in this post is from Rocky Point Loop A.

Quite. Nice state park. Cheap at $14/night. Some sites are pull through. Some are back inside. Some have just electric and no water, some have both. Some have none. Level. And great views!

Lovely campground. Well run. Both the hosts and the ranger do a great job!

We arrived as the sun was setting. It was cold so we wanted to set up quickly and get the heat going. The host pulls up and gets us on a a nice level pull through. Their were other spots open as it was winter. It had a shelter and table. The fire grill was away from the shelter and wrapped with yellow tape. This meant do not use. We use our own grill anyway. I looked around and several sites had the same thing. I took jack for a walk on one trail. It was nice. Nice views. Many area's we closed because of winter. We bunkered down and got through 2 cold nights comfortably. For those of you who camp though winter the host said after dumping tanks add one cup of rv antifreeze to black and gray tanks ( i believe you could get this at walmart, camping world or Amazon). This works great. Thanks. Upon exiting we spotted a cow on the road. We quickly called authorities and a bulletin went out, "calling all cars, calling all car. Be on the lookout for a ferral cow on the lamb". Anouther went out to the public "anyone spotting a cow on the loose put a tail on it" Update: "Anyone seeing a cow riding a lamb with 2 tails please detain him. He is wanted for questioning". Update: No cows were hurt in the making of this review. We are in negotiations with a creamery to create A new type of containment system. We don't want the the same tragic ending that befelled the horse farm witch is now a glue factory that is aptly named mr. mcglue's stickey farm. Update: Please stop calling in about horse's.

We tent camped here. The campgrounds were clean and reasonably priced. There were plenty of spaces to choose from and we mostly had the place to ourselves (we camped on a weeknight). Developed campsites are equipped with covered cement picnic tables and grills. There are fee-free primitive campsites available as well with fire rings and uncovered picnic tables. It was very quiet and peaceful at night. I would stay again.
