Scarborough Beach State Park

Story

The Scarborough Bridge is a wooden covered bridge in the Barclay Farms neighborhood of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. It carries 2 lanes of Covered Bridge Road (the bridge's namesake), as well as 2 sidewalks for pedestrians and bicyclists. The bridge was named after Bob Scarborough, a housing developer who established the Barclay Farms neighborhood, where the bridge is located. A bridge was needed in the area to extend the subdivision street system over the North Branch, which is a small tributary of the Cooper River. The bridge was designed by Malcolm Wells and was open to traffic on February 14, 1959. The bridge was renovated in 1993. Having a town truss design, the Scarborough Bridge is considered a historical landmark for the community.

GREAT place for everyone! Good food, sandy beaches, very clean, rinsing shower, private bathrooms, decent waves and no undertow. Definitely will be back!

I drove in last Thursday to check out a new beach. We usually go to Ferry Beach Rd. in Scarborough just down the road. I pulled in and asked the woman working the payment building if I could just pull in quick to take a look at the beach and pull back out before I pay. I explained that I have a handicap and wanted to see if I would be able to use the beach. She said, "No we are running a business." Wow. I took my business down the street. I planned on staying there if I was able to use the beach. I'll pay $4 more down the street. They really should revamp their work ethics and how they treat the disabled.

Beach is flat and long, nice place to walk. There are a lot of surfers who go here, fun to watch. It's a family beach. There are life guards. The surf is not as good as old orchard or Higgins beach.

Great beach! Plenty of lifeguards, I didn't feel I was crowded by or crowding anyone. The surf wasn't huge but it's a nice beach for kids. The staff was a little confusing, they took our money and sent us on a wild goose chase looking for parking in a very overfilled car park, only to move us to an overflow area. Other than that time wasted, I had a nice experience.
