Slate run can easily be an all day event. The living historical farm is amazing, the volunteers who work there are so great. The parks are beautiful, and have really nice play grounds and picnic options. The trails are really nice too. Off the trail that starts at Shady Grove is a "natural play area" where you are encouraged to go off the trail and play in the creek.

Love the historical farm, lots of great activities and barns full of horses, cows, chickens, pigs, lambs and turkeys! This is a working farm and teaches kids about how they lived in the 1800's. My 3 year old loved all of it. The hiking trails are packed gravel. Most areas stroller friendly.

Beautiful spot to walk, great Pokemon choices if you play Pokemon Go. There are several areas of this park with trails to bike/skate on! Also has a great place for kids to play. Not near any busy roads.

The main attraction here is a historical farm with park staff dressed in old time clothing (before they had zippers) using old tools and methods to run the farm. There are old games for kids to play with and they can grind corn with hand powered grinder. My daughter (and all the kids there) seemed to love this. They have horses, cows, pigs, sheep, ducks, geese, chicken and other fowl. But don't worry about the smell because it doesn't stink like a modern "factory farm" - it's a pleasant place to visit and a good place to being young kids (and old ones).

Love taking my son here, especially in the spring when all the babies are born. Make sure you check out their website for the events going on. The maple days are great as well!
