Story

Steak ‘n Shake was founded in February, 1934 in Normal, Illinois. Gus Belt, Steak ‘n Shake’s founder, pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milk shakes. The Steak 'n Shake name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for STEAKBURGER. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped MILK SHAKES. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. To prove his point that his burgers were exceptionally prime, he would wheel in a barrel of steaks (including round, sirloin, and T-bones) and grind the meat into burgers right in front of the guests. Hence arose the origin of our famous slogan, “In Sight It Must Be Right.” After 79 years, we are continuing Steak n Shake’s tradition of serving the country’s best, freshest, and tastiest burgers and shakes.

Service was really good today Easter Sunday...not crowded at all. Food very tastey. Presentation of food lacked. Ordered mushroom cheese burger w onions. Cheese was shifted to one side onions plopped on other side. After I remade the burger it was swell. Very sloppy presented.

The person taking the order through the drive thru acted like she didn't want to be at her job, so she was rude! The manager gave us the order through the window, we asked for certain condiments, while she was handing us the bag we asked if they were in there, she said yes. We pulled over in a parking spot so I could change my babies diaper, while my husband and daughter was pulling there food out of their bags, to discover the condiments we asked for NONE of them was even in there, not one. We asked for Apple sauce instead of fries for my daughter's kid's meal, guess what she got yep fries, not the apple sauce. I had to go into the restaurant myself to ask someone else to give us our stuff, but that younger woman was nice with a great personality.

The Huber Heights location is the best! Love the staff, food is hot and fresh and the place is always clean. Even during rushes, they're still pretty fast getting food out. One of my favorite "cheap eats".

Making a cross country trip with our one year old child and her grandmother we decided to stop and get something quick, upon arriving at the drive through it took 10 minutes to order with no visible lines and an empty parking lot. The lady at the drive through window acted like she didn’t want to be at work and told me I would have to go inside if I wanted to get my food and re-order! They refused to hand me three burgers through the drive through. I then went inside to find 5 employees sitting around and only 2 other people eating. With no apologies from the staff or manager. Not a single word was said to us as we ordered inside, they were so upset with the fact they had to work that they would not even acknowledge paying customers. Please save your money and visit another establishment.

Service is awful here, Yvonna greeted us after being seated by saying" have you all been helped?, of course not they make me do everything." under her breathe so already we know she is not happy tonight to be working. As we order our drinks and food she says she has to go get another tables order submitted first before she can submit our order/drinks... okay so after she takes ours she goes straight to the back. she had already taken the other tables order? I'm not sure why you would want to lie about that, my sister who is dining with us asks, if t her sandwich comes with romaine lettuce or iceberg, she has a low immune system and there has been a romaine epidemic, Yvonna ? says no its iceberg. As our food comes out, 45 minutes later( we only have a table of 4) her sandwich sure enough has romaine on it, i ask for sour cream, she goes to the order area and i can hear and see the employee, laughing and chuckling because asking for this item? she says , they do not serve that and others have asked for it tonight? long story, short TERRIBLE SERVICE it used to be better.
