Registration staff can be rude, and tell you surgeries won't be performed if not paid in full beforehand. Head of anesthesiology is rude and rough. Staff in charge of asking preoperative surgery questions do not call you back even though their message says they will. The nurses in the OB department are amazing, though.

This hospital had a good reputation when it was owned by the city. Quality of care has been in steady decline since it was privatized in the 80's. It is now common knowledge amongst many, if not most, of the locals in the surrounding area, that this is a "last resort" for healthcare, especially the E.R., which has attained legendary notoriety. Kalamazoo offers better choices for quality healthcare.

Unimpressive, underwhelming, unnecessary "services" performed assuming so they could bill for them. Staff not very friendly. I cannot even begin to express my dissatisfaction with the "care" my mother-in-law recieved here. As a health care professional who practiced in this area for the first years of my career I heard many horror stories. The one time I actually witnessed how treatment is handled here, the caliber of people they employ, and the dingy, run down feel of the actual facility... scary.

This hospital should only be a first aid clinic. Don't go there if your elderly. Once brought my grandfather in with possible stroke. The told us to go to the waiting room. No sense of urgency was given to my grandfather whatsoever. So we left call 911 and had then go to Bronson hospital in Kalamazoo. There should be an option for no stars at all.

I will never go back to sturgis hospital ER again unless I'm physically forced too. The last time I was there all I wanted was a cat scan and the Dr was very rude and not just to me but to all the patience that were in thier. The house supervisor had to come down it was that bad. I will die at home before I will go back to that ER again. That DR has no business being a doctor he needs to lose his license and hopefully he got in trouble that day and will be dismissed from that hospital. He had me in tears.
