I don't recommend this hospital to anyone, not only did a very dear friend of ours pass away alone even after they promised to call us in time to come say goodbye and when we got there " after he had passed " ( on the critical care floor mind you ) there was a call light on at the end of the hall and all of the staff was up at the desk going on about facebook, gossip, and supper, totally ignoring the call light. I told them that if they would do their jobs then maybe our friend would not have died alone on their watch. Recently ( without any other option ) I had to go stay there for 4 days on the 3rd floor. The doctors were nice, but the nurses were lazy and if they were not dumb they were sure good at pretending to be, they were very rude and insensitive and acted like I was keeping them from their pointless gossip and laziness. Seriously, if you don't want to take care of people DON'T WORK IN HEALTH CARE, it's cruel, I would like to hope they would not treat their own family that way and working in Health Care myself that is the way you need to see your patients, " what if it was my mom or dad etc " No way did any of the lazy bums. I will never go back there. Nobody should, you could be laying there dying and their " just a minute hun " turns into two hours. Just say go at your own risk. I learned my lesson.

The ICU was excellent, the day nurses Bob and Penny were excellent nicer more compassionate could not have been found, As long as they were on duty I felt like angels were watching over me. Every need was taken care of and I probably wasn't their most cooperative patient.. However the night nurses seem to leave a bit to be desired, my transfusions and IVs were constantly running dry or not flowing properly, alarms were always going off with no response. I finally had to figure how to go to the bathroom by myself. I had more wires on me than an old fashioned telephone exchange, I think the nurses get together and take turns sleeping while on duty. The doctors on the third floor were excellent, they explained everything to my wife and me. Its a good thing my wife was there, I was in no mood to listen to anyone. She was also impressed with the care I received. Our compliments to Dr's Faith, Uhl, Childers, Mcgown, Narain and others I can't remember. I was able to converse with experts with many years of experience were as I had less than an hours worth of experience, They left me with a fairly good idea of what was wrong and what was to be expected. After I was transferred to the third floor I again received excellent care Nurses Misty, Josie and Robin were excellent. Also all the support staff treated me great They drew blood every two hours (I think for every 2 units I received they took back 1) Breathing treatments, extra medication. Even housekeeping was great the found a more comfortable chair for my wife. There are to many little things I could mention that made my stay great for the condition I was in. I consider Sumner an excellent hospital

I loved the ER; but my hospital stay was a disaster. The nurses were nice. The room was not clean, the doctor was rude, blood on food table, one of my blankets fell on the floor and they were going to put it back on me, a hospital cafeteria delivery girl showed me my dinner, put the top tray on the bed then put it back on my food, food was awful, (I just drank juice and fruit.), the door handle did not work the nurse was locked in my room until someone let her out, when I was discharged from the hospital they handed me my papers and told me to take this elevator to the bottom floor, (They to not take you to the front door in a wheel chair.) I got on the elevator and was in the basement of the hospital. A policeman escorted me back to my nurse. I asked her if she could please take my blood pressure; she said she could not touch me because I was not her patient anymore. My stay was a nightmare and I felt like I was in a third world hospital.
