Richard DeShantz is the Chef/Owner of Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group in Pittsburgh, PA. Tacos were very good but a little pricey. I liked the variety of the drink menu. Overall the ambiance makes it a great place to check out, but the host was absolutely clueless when we were trying to check in after half our party had already arrived. First I was told I must not have a reservation and I could come back for their next open reservation around 11pm... mind you I had called the week before to confirm my reservation, so I knew this wasn't the case. After 10 minutes of the host trying to find my reservation (which I had to find for him on his iPad) he told me he wasn't sure if they seated the right people and we could go upstairs to check... If you are seating half the party please make sure they are the right guests and please find a way to flag that in your reservation system! He offered us zero help. Horrible customer service from the host and not a great way to start off our first experience... I give 4 stars knowing that our experience was not the norm!

Tako is FANTASTIC!!! We had drinks and dinner. The server was wonderful and the food was prepared perfectly. We had a few drinks, and they where spectacular. All in all, a great place, with a great price in a great city. Price would have been $40 for dinner but with drinks it was $100 and we had 6... It is wonderful, and we will be back!!! Oh, the chips and salsa was a great way to start. We chose 3 different salsas and even asked for an additional one because of the abundance of chips plus how great the salsa was. I had the pull pork taco... Amazing! Honestly a well thought of taco/fusion restaurant. Go there, and enjoy! Cheers

A great find, quite a hipster vibe going on, but don't let that put you off. The food is excellent, great Tacos. guac, Tuna was awesome. We had to wait to be seated and we had a booking, but its a popular joint. Service is probably 4 star, as its a tad disorganized, a bit too much of standing around looking pretty, but the food makes up for it and its a cool venue, so if you are in Pittsburgh, its worth a visit.

My friend and I were super excited to come to tako for the first time, but due to poor communication we were unable to. There was a short line outside the door waiting for the restaurant to open. When it hit the time, they opened the doors and let everyone in without a word. The hosts and waiters stood around greeting everyone. Then, once the restaurant started to fill up, the waiters came around and said that seats were filled, so many of us got up and moved to other seats. Then we were told that reservations had booked up all of the seats until 11pm that night. Many of us became angry because there were no signs to tell us this or we wouldn't have waited outside. All of the employees we walked past let us sit without asking us to check in for a reservation. It was honestly wasted time and poor communication on behalf of the business.

I'm so glad we FINALLY got to Tako! The tacos (and salsas) were amazing and the margaritas (I had the pineapple/jalapeno one without the jalapeno) were wonderful. We sat at the bar, since we didn't plan ahead months in advance. The service was great and all the food we saw going by us looked amazing, too. I couldn't decide, since everything looked so good on the menu, so I took the suggestion of our bartender and she definitely steered me in the right direction, though all of us enjoyed our food. The tacos were also a lot bigger than I expected and filled me up more than I thought they would. I can't wait to go back. There is so much I want to try!
