This restaurant has a beautiful vibe on the indoor dining room, but today my first time I decided to sit on the patio. I had the Bison New York mid-rare and a side salad, as well as a huckleberry margarita with 1800 and the mixed berry cheesecake. Overall this was a decent experience. The steak was amazing, and the cheesecake was delicious as well. The salad was super basic and somewhat disappointing, but the lettuce was fresh. For the price I wasn't amazed, but I feel it would have been redeemed if the service was better. I came in by myself not so dressed up, and was disappointed at waiting 15 minutes for my second drink and not getting my salad until after the steak. I would come back again, but this is not a premier steakhouse in my opinion. There are many great steaks in Montana.
We came here for some good steak and we were not disappointed. I ordered a bison filet 8oz for $40 and side of shrimp with it for $9.50 as it was offered to me when I was ordering. Others ordered rib eye 14oz for $37 and a bison burger. They asked me and the others how they wanted their steak but didn't ask about the meat for the bison burger. When everything was delivered, it was spot on except the bison burger was well done. We told them we wanted it cooked medium. They picked it up and cooked a new one which seemed like a 10 minute wait. I think the manager brought it over to us and apologized, however it was still well done. My son just ate it anyway, but was unhappy with the burger. He ended up trying some of the rib eye in which he thought it tasted fantastic. For the price, we would have liked a little more attention on our food, especially if it was cooked wrong and we never got a follow up to make sure we were happy with the replacement. The waitress was great otherwise and we enjoyed our food and stay. I gave it a four due to the bison burger issue, however I would still recommend eating here.
We dropped by for an early dinner and were lucky enough to get a table, even though it was "parents weekend" for college students. We had to promise to be out by a certain time due to reservations on their books, but we didn't mind. Ordered drinks and dinner and enjoyed everything with no issues at all. Our server, Gaige, was super nifty and alert, even rolled with our goofy oldster jokes. Very pleasant. Of note: parking is on the street or in a couple lots nearby, and can be tough to find on busy weekends. Service at the restaurant can be slow during peak times, so try to be patient.
We tried the Ted's Montana Grill in Bozeman located on Main Street for a steak dinner. We arrived as a part of three on a Tuesday evening without reservations and was seated in about 15 minutes. The restaurant has a classy vibe you would expect from a nice steakhouse and the wait staff were very professional. You have the option to try a few diferent cuts of steak from either beef or bison. I opted for the bison filet and the steak did not disappoint. The steak was cooked at the correct temperature medium rare and had a nice seared crust on the outside with a lemon butter sauce on top. I also tried the bison nachos which were very good. There was a good selection of sides with your dinner choice and a few options for cocktails on the drink menu. There is a small chocolatier shop just outside the restaurant that sells gourmet French style chocolates. Outside there are many bars and shops located within a short distance. I would recommend this place for a nice steak dinner or to celebrate an occasion.
I wish I could do 3.5 stars…. The place is nicely positioned in a hotel, downtown Bozeman. The layout of the restaurant is a little weird in that people who are waiting for a table almost literally stand in the middle of the restaurant. I understand that we caught them at the back end of the lunch rush but the service was slow and mediocre at best. I got the bison top sirloin and it was good, not great. The fries weren’t very warm, and the green beans were excellent based on my liking. However, if you don’t like burned green beans, you probably wouldn’t like them. I hadn’t been to a Ted’s in many years so I wanted to give it a shot during my visit to Montana! If you’re looking for a good chain restaurant I’d still encourage you to check this one out. It was clean, and was overall an above average experience.
Ted's Montana Grill is AMAZING!! Very friendly staff and of course.. AMAZING food! I recommend the Bison bone-in ribeye steak! The Bison steak I had here is the best steak I have ever had! Also, the garlic mashed potatoes, fries and onion rings were all very good as well. Even the building the restaurant is in, is very cool, all authentic 1920's timeless characteristics that make you feel like you just stepped back in time. Now I know why everyone is moving to Bozeman Montana!!
Went to Ted's to meet up with family friends and the service was wonderful. Got us seated right away and it was packed! Had the bison ribeye with veggies and it was cooked to perfection. The lemon drop martini was delicious! Kid-friendliness: Had an amazing kids menu and my daughter loved the cherry lemonade!
Traveling back to Tennessee and wanted to stop in Bozeman for Montana's best steak and this bison steak hit the spot! First time trying and was very happy. Chef was spot on and Abby was a great server. Living 2 hours from Atlanta Ted Turner is a legend, wasn't even aware this was his until our server gave us some history. Update month later, came back again. Not as good. Last time was amazing and worth coming back! But opinion has changed
You can always tell a place has gone downhill when their neon sign has half the lights out. I had swooned over Ted's Montana Grill years ago shortly after it had opened and decided to try it for dinner on my last nite in Bozeman close to the hotel, trip down memory lane etc. The place was jammed MSU students and their families were in town, the staff did a great job but very rushed with a hectic, early dinner crowd Ted's is located off the lobby at the absolutely gorgeous Baxter Hotel Building no longer a hotel, now a condo. It's worth checking out just for the architecture of the lobby. They also have a very nice outdoor area on Main Street as well as a more shaded patio out back. Food, however, meh!
Had the cedar planked salmon. Fresh. Tasty. Broccoli was overdone but the potatoes were top notch. Fresh squeezed cherry lemonade was perfect.
